I've been a member since 2002 first post. I need some help.
My truck died today. It quit while I was going down the road. I stopped and tried to re-start it, but it just died. Tried to start again died as soon as I mashed the petal. Acts just like a low fuel issue. Dealer has it now I believe it still under the 7 yr warranty. I'm sure glad this did not happen while I was coming down a 7 percent grade. No brakes and no power steering. Bad news.
Question is if the lift pump is out will that kill or have caused damage to my CP3 and injectors?? As they have been run on low fuel/ lack of lube?
Also will the dealer install the in tank lift pump If my lift pump on the back of the fuel filter is bad?? I was just going to order an Air Dog pump and filter too. Been reading about the issues with the unreliable lift pump and didn't want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere. I have not had any starting issues nothing and then the truck just quit on me no warning. I'm concerned that the injectors will have been damaged and on their way out too and then the truck is out of warranty by the time they quit working.
If the in tank lift pump is installed by the dealer will I need a different Air dog pick up tube to address that?? Should I obtain the old parts from the dealer?? I really wanted to get rid of the old unreliable lift pump and go with the Air Dog. Any suggestions.
Thanks for the help. I'll post what the dealer finds.
