OK, I have a 02 3500, 109K miles, auto 4x4, completely stock. I suspect the LP is failing (no pressure guage yet) simply due to a sputter w/white smoke on heavy acceleration. I have replaced the fuel filter within 100 miles of this starting, and it is only every now and then. I have no 0216 codeyet... .

Which LP do you recommend?

Thx!!

If you are going to remain stock, get a new stock LP and Vulcan relocation kit for Geno's. You will be fine. OH YEAH! Get a fuel pressure gauge ASP. SNOKING

If you plan on keeping the truck for a long period of time then go with a FASS. .

It was well worth the money in my opinion.

Um, I would be concerned about the sputtering and white smoke. When I bought my truck, it didn't have a FP gauge. When I got one, after about 30 days, I got 0, and I mean 0, psi on the gauge. My truck ran just fine. I would highly recommend having the VP44 looked at, just to ensure that it's up to snuff. Personally, I'm still running a stock pump from last year that I bought at NAPA. Their FP's have a one year warranty. I would like to do the relocation kit, but figure if it fails again, I'm going with the Glacier system. The guy who sells it is local, and I'm sure I'd have some good service from him(Richard, I believe).

Careful what you wish for, right mmyers1!?

Heh Heh. Now youv'e got homework to do on all those kits! All those pumps are sweet, by the way. Iv'e got a FASS and a Holley blue under the seat.

I'm weird. :-laf

I'd like to put my vote in for the AirDog, it's compact, quiet, consistent pressures and I like where it mounts---tucked up just behind my transfer-case and inside the skid plate. Regards, Mike.

Another vote for Airdog. Just got mine installed and it is giving a soild 15 lbs. Much better then the stock intank pump. Towed trailer with Jeep on it and camper in truck bed and could not pull down to 14lbs. Really romped on it yesterday coming back from Pittsfield Illinois and the truck seems to run smoother and quieter. Impressed... :D

Thanks to everyone

I figured what I would do is this:

I went with the stock pump, and the Vulcan Big-line relocation kit. I also installed the Westach FP, combo boost/EGT, and the transmission temp guage(transmission temp is backordered). I now have 15PSI at idle, and 11-12 at WOT.

By the way, all my symptoms are now cured and so far everything seems fine. (we will see of course).

This will buy me time to research exactly where I want to go in the future.

Thank you to EVERYONE who graciously provided input. All of it was valuable and appreciated!

My Best thought on a LP is do a search on the many lift pumps around. but what do you want?, just a pump or a full system, or a montifyed sys, or a mechanical. There are many good systems out there, as walbro, Fass, airdog, rasp, etc.

If you just want a pump I would say get a Walbro setup, but if you want a full system with filters go with fass or airdog. If you don't want a electric pump go with rasp.

All of the above seem to be very good, some had problems in the past but doing good now. I have a fass on my 2000 ctd. and got a walbro for my 01 but someone wanted the truck more than I before I got to install it. #@$%!

But first get a FP gauge. I have checked mine in the past at the vp with a manuel gauge and it showed good sitting still, but after installing a in line fp gauge I was shocked on what I saw. With a slight push of the throttle my fp went down to 0-2 , then went back up to 14 after letting off throttle.

I don't trust dc on checking fp as standing still and running you can get different readings.

I have read many threads on this from many forums about lp's, There is some good reading like the one about the oem carter and cavitation or what ever.

Do your homework and decide, if you ask your going to get 100 different answers.

Good luck.

I put the glacer pump in mine, the 392 walbro pump, along with the vulcan big line kit and the drawstraw, i love the setup. Fp is at 15 no matter what you do. I had relocated the stock pump last year and it was gettin weak, finally got around to installing the 392 and what a difference in the way the truck runs and better takeoff when you stand on the go .

I already bought the 392 before they came out with the fuel boss, it looks like a rasp to me , that is what i was going to do before i decided on the 392... glad i went the way i did.
