Even if your best pal owned the dealership... it would be tough to imagine them keeping your warranty intact with such a modification. I have little faith in warranty work on vehicles. I've had too many new trucks where the warranty didn't do me ANY good even when I never touched the truck in any way. This time I did what I thought was best for my truck to keep me out of the service bay in the first place.
I had a brand new 96 Chevy truck that kept burning 2 quarts of oil every 1500 miles in the #1 cyl. The plug would look like a flame burnt hot dog while the others were new looking. Dealership kept repeating it was normal and would pour carbon cleaner in the gas and install a new plug every so often. At 36000 miles they said it was a bad valve seal and I would have to pay for R/R on the cyl head. Thats just one example of where warranty got me. I knew it was bad from the first oil change.
