The codes that came up are PPCU then
P 1693
P 0236
P 0230
P 1689 How do you get the information to be able know what there codes mean? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
Your best source for trouble shooting info is the Dodge Diagnostic Procedures Manual.
That P1693 you can ignore.
Could that P0230 actually be a P0238? If so...
P0238 - MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH
P0236 - MAP SENSOR TOO HIGH TOO LONG
P1689 - NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN ECM AND INJECTION PUMP MODULE
P1693 - DTC DETECTED IN PCM
The P0236 could be a sign that the MAP sensor is bad, or it could have been caused by all the missing and sputtering.
That P1689 is a the most troublesome. It generally means the VP44 injection pump's computer has quit communicating with the ECM... unless there's simply a problem with the wiring harness between the two. You might try unplugging and reconnecting both the ECM and VP44 connectors to see if that helps.
Another test might be to clear the trouble codes, try to start and run the engine again to see what codes return. If that P1989 comes back and you've verified you have god fuel pressure, then it's probably time for a new VP44.
Sorry!
