Anybody have any luck with canned liner?

I need enough to cover the top of a tool box, and don't know if I want to hassle getting it sprayed.

TIA

I used the Hurculiner brand for my bed. It turned out great and I like it better than the sprayed in liner I had in my last truck. Taking sandpaper to the bed of my new truck was the most painfull part. ;) Like I said though, it turned out great and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again or recomend it to others. It's much more skid resistant and rubbery than most of the sprayed on liners also. Good Luck.

I have seen probaly a dozen or so, mainly guys at work with old beaters. I have yet to see one look worth a danm. Maybe just the ones I saw, but none of them have any thickness to them like a real spray in liner does. I know they are much cheaper, and i'm sure that goes into the decision, but they are not a spray liner.

Just get the spray-d on one. I have Line-x in my bed and nerf bars. I had a friend with herculiner in a jeep not bad but if it's gonna see some abuse better get the real stuff besides it looks nicer.

guys he said hes not doing his bed just teh top of a tool box. . ha . . it will work very well for that appliocation. . i've used it for my factory skidpan on my vw golf looks sweet and easy to do its strong to passed the hammer test ha. .

For the price it is definetly worth it! The finish is not as fine in appearence as the spray- on but contrary to what others have said it does hold up. I do get minor scratches here and there, but I chose to go thinner (single caot) then have extra to re- do the whole bed every 3- 4 years. JMO. -frank

Holy crap that link is hilarious. I needed a laugh!

I'm leaning towards doing my bed with the Herculiner as well. I may get it at a discount because the hardware store I used to work at had some gallons they couldn't sell.

I also recommend the Durabak. I lined the underneath of my Jeep with black Durabak, and the interior with blue and it has been great for over 3 years now. . Easy to use also.

After thinking about it a bit, I'm leaning more towards the roll on stuff becasue it would be cheaper. I'm thinking about doing my bed (under the rail since I have diamond plate caps and tailgate), as well as my rocker panels below the rubber and on the dually fenders fore and aft the rear tires. Only downside is my chrome nerf bars. Decisions, decisions.

And it sounds like you can order Durabak in a smooth finish, or put it on smooth. Smooth would be better on rockers and bumpers, IMO.

So it looks like we have a choice of Durabark or Hercuhootus.

I still need to call Rhino to get my bed touched up where it got gouged, see what they say.

Thanks.

Used Herculiner on the bed and rails of my 98 Dodge... . the liner protected by my tonneau cover still looked good after three years but I was due to put another coat on the rails when I traded it off.

Herculiner is a very rough texture and is hard on the knees if you have to kneel or crawl on it. My '03 has a blown in liner :D
