FWIW, I think the spray in liners are good (IF properly done), BUT I haven't had a problem with any of my 12 trucks with the plastic drop in liners. Sure the paint eventually wears off where the ribs contact the bed, but I haven't had any rust problems. I also think the plastic liners are better for protecting against dents. I usually take my liner out once a year and clean the dirt and dust from underneath, but the bulk of my fleet trucks never get the liner removed. Some are 10 - 15 years old and no rust underneath. On my new truck, I am hauling a camper and believe a rubber mat is the only way to go. Plastic liners cause the camper to move around too much. A spray in liner WITH the rubber bed mat might be ideal, but I am too scared to go with a spray-in. Its not like you can get it undone. Luckily, if I want to haul rocks, dirt or other crap, I can just take another truck.

Like everyone else has said, its likely all in getting a quality installer.

Hey PB,

Sounds like that guy just doesn't want your business so i would find someone else.

I have the LineX and the guy that did mine was more than happy to take the time and answer all my questions. I am on my 3rd CTD. The first had the drop in liner. When i traded it for my '00 I was going to re-use the bed liner it until I had seen what it done to the paint, not to mention all of the rust, in the bed. Told the dealer to keep the liner and I just used a rubber bed mat. My '03 I wanted to give the sray liner a try. Researched both Rhino and LineX and went with LineX. I have been very happy with it so far. The guy who did my work stated that the warrenty is good if it is a failure of the material and/or workmen ship. But he said that he would cover any defects even if I created them. We shall see.

PB,

The guys who sprayed my truck ('04 dodge SB over the rail Line-X) and past trucks do an awesome and perfect job. They are hear in the Tri-Cities in Kennewick,WA. They also spray all of our farm rigs, trailers, and equipment and pretty much anything we want done. As a matter of fact I am taking the new farm truck there on Friday to get the bed done. As far as warranty goes if you chip by throwing something in the bed or it just wears down, they'll spray it again at NO CHARGE! On a dodge like yours it'll take them 1 1/2 hours max.

I'm considering a Permatech if I go with a spray-in but I'm looking real hard at a Pendaliner (I think that's what it's called) which is a drop-in but uses a liner underneath and some kind of setup with the drop-in itself that allows moisture to escape. It appeared to me they had a pretty solid warranty and the drop-in had a real snug fit. I may check into it a little deeper. The shop owner who tinted/nerfed/bug shielded my truck today has one in his shop truck (since '97) and he went on and on about it. The Pendaliner is about $240 or so installed

Like I said, the local guy here in Grants Pass Oregon, along with the guy at the Corp office of Linex said, if I scratch it, I have NO warranty repair. Im keeping the plastic liner. Thanks again

Well... sucks to live where you live. :{ Honestly, I'd find a more helpful line-x dealer. The corporate policy is that they warranty defects only, but many dealers provide "full coverage" in order to attract and retain customers. There really is no comparison to a drop in. I had drop in liners on previous trucks and they all looked like crap after a few years.

I would have liked another spray on liner but after the bad deal with the Chico Calif LineX guy, and the guy in Grants Pass with the bad attitude, Im glad my plastic liner is an "under the rail" liner and it really cant be seen like the ugly over the rail plastic liners. They always look warped. The way I figure, if my plastic rubs the paint and starts to look bad under, I have the ability to get out the gun and spray the Dupont orig color on the dent free bed. That is one good thing about the plastic liner, it is almost impossible to dent the bed! I can buy alot of paint for what the spray on liner costs. I guess that just about sums it up!
