FWIW, I think the spray in liners are good (IF properly done), BUT I haven't had a problem with any of my 12 trucks with the plastic drop in liners. Sure the paint eventually wears off where the ribs contact the bed, but I haven't had any rust problems. I also think the plastic liners are better for protecting against dents. I usually take my liner out once a year and clean the dirt and dust from underneath, but the bulk of my fleet trucks never get the liner removed. Some are 10 - 15 years old and no rust underneath. On my new truck, I am hauling a camper and believe a rubber mat is the only way to go. Plastic liners cause the camper to move around too much. A spray in liner WITH the rubber bed mat might be ideal, but I am too scared to go with a spray-in. Its not like you can get it undone. Luckily, if I want to haul rocks, dirt or other crap, I can just take another truck.
Like everyone else has said, its likely all in getting a quality installer.
