I just got done putting my 3rd gen heated trailer tow mirrors on my '97 and wanted to let you guys know how the wires from the 3rd gen mirrors hook up to the wires in the doors of my 97. Starting with the left door. the door harness yellow wire hooked up to the the blue wire on the mirror. the door wire blue hooked up to the grey wire from the mirror. The door wire yellow with brown stripe hooked up to the green mirror wire. Now for the right door. Blue door wire to grey mirror wire. Yellow with brown stripe door wire to the blue mirror wire. The White door wire to the green mirror wire. These all allowed the mirror to function correctly from the switch. the 2 black wires from the mirror need to be run for your heater. I took out the door speaker and the kick panel inside the cab and was able to run a stiff wire through the door boot into the cab to pull the wires for the mirrors. All the 3rd gen mirror wires are too short but there is plenty of room under the round plug on the bottom of the mirrors to splice additional length to the wires to make the hook-up. I was able to use the female end of the factory harness plug in the door by just adding small size female spade crimp connectors on the ends of my wires from the new mirrors. . Hope this makes it easy for someone else.

I had to buy a set of manual second gen trailer tow mirrors and a set of power heated 3rd gen and then switch the heads, then I could bolt the third gen heads mounted on 2nd gen bases on the truck. PITA. Chrysler should make us a mirror package for these things.
