Tom, looks like your gonna get wet next week from that hurricane coming up baja. They are talking possible flooding.
Yes, NWS is showing chance of storms Sunday night into Tuesday here. Currently, not predicting large rainfall amounts, 1/4-1/2", but boomers can really dump locally. I hate rainy days, but man oh man do we need a dose of rain.

I figured it would be chilly, as it was about 55 here when I went to coffee this morning.

Have they been replacing the pumps under warranty?

Yes, the three from Ace, one 7000 model and two 7500 models. TSC was a new buy, I hope it is a different batch.

You would really dislike Minot as much as I do then. Looks like another round moving in about 20-30mph winds with 56 degree temp. It's friggin COLD. I have my AF field jacket with the winter liner and I'm still cold. Couple of weeks ago it rained constantly for 3 days and nights. Figured I could get a lot of to do things done up here with the cooler weather. That hasn't happened.

Picked up a load of Alpaca poop this morning. It has been a slow year for it and the cinder pit closed this year. I hope they get the difficulties ironed out and back open.

Got lucky and made a direct ship sale, free delivery included. He is a good customer, note the large green house. He has two big ones, a small one, a solar one, plus an open garden. And my cooler was still working when I got home:)

Yes, the "gray gloom" is not good for me. Really wears me down. And I have always hated wind.

I don't mind a dreary day in Phoenix as it rarely happens but this is rediculous. Reminds me of growing up in SE Pennsylvania, but I did not know anything different then. Started raining about 2am and rained heavy all day till about 6pm. I have gone through 2 flags in 4 Months with this wind. I have no idea what SAC was thinking when they put this base here. Should have left Loring open and closed this one.

38* this morning. I guess I should have listened to the lady at Ace Hardware. She said to wait a few days I won't need the pump till next year!

Went down another steep hill with a big load of cow poop (10 yards) yesterday. The worst hill (with a road) that I have ever been on, this is from a 25 year log hauler. When the customer advised me about it, I told my driver what he said and she said I needed to switch to the gooseneck, if it is that bad. I took her advise and it is a good thing I did. In 1st gear, low range 4x4, manual trailer brake handle bent over to the left, the RPM was at 2400, 2.5 miles per hour with all four pickup tires, slipping slightly. As steep as it was, I figured I had about 3 times the normal pin weight.

I wasn't sure if we could get back up the hill, but we got lost and managed to finally find our way back out on another road, with only a small hill. What the heck? Does this guy not know about it? He is a new guy from Colo. so maybe he don't. At the top of the hill, in big red letters, is a sign that says 4x4 only, It should say Cat dozer only:-laf

Small world sometimes. I had a customer with his own dump trailer pick up two loads of poop, yesterday. He lives next door to the guy I hauled the above load for. He said he can haul about 4 ton max on this hill, any more and he has to go around. He has an '02 4x4, 2nd gen auto, with 7x12x3 bumper pull dump. He went down the hill with his first load, 10 yards of horse poop, about 4 ton. The second load was 10 yards of cow poop, about 6+ ton, he said he will go around with this load. I told him I might see him in the obituaries:D

He said it cost him $10k to move his big single wide, three miles. They used a D-5 Cat dozer in the front and large 4x4 backhoe tied to the rear to get it off the hill.

Hauled two loads of cinders from the house Saturday and three loads from the pit yesterday, 335 miles, 25 gallons of fuel for a 13.4 mpg. Mostly 35-55 mph roads with some steep, but short rolling hills, 14k empty and 26k+ loaded.

The pit lost an engine in their 8 yd. Komatsu so they leased a Cat 950 w/4 yd. bucket and a Doosan with a 6 yd. bucket. Since I haul 8 yds. the Komatsu and Cat are easy to judge the amount, but the operator is still unsure on the Doosan so ended up overloaded with one load. Trailer wouldn't dump, so I had to get my pry bars out and help it...

Why was I under the impression cinders were black?

They come in several colors with red and black the most common. This pit has some almost yellowish, brown and some grey.

Hauled three more loads today, same place as yesterday, 260 miles, 19.3 gal. fuel for a 13.47 mpg. I think I can say I am getting 13.4 mpg on this haul:D

Some pictures of the pit/screen/stock piles and colors. We have three local pits here, this one in the middle. There is a smaller one and huge one.

Hauled two loads from the gravel pit yesterday, 6.5 and 6.7 ton each. I watched an older Dodge Dakota pickup haul 9/10's ton, mashed him:) But then the dip stick didn't wipe off the spillage on his bumper/step, from the wide loader bucket:mad:
