Been shopping for a 83"x16' Gooseneck dump trailer, looks like I will be headed to Texas again. The local Load Trail dealer has one but wants $1900 more and the Big Tex dealer wants $1700 more with nothing in stock.

My son wants a 102"x24' Gooseneck car hauler with the Multi-purpose dove tail so if it works out I will load the Dump on it and tow them both.

I'd love to own both of those trailers, but I am a recovering trailer-holic. Guess I better play Powerball...

Yes, that's me, this will be 6 trailers, lol My sons get after me for it but then have no problem using them. If it is for personal use I let them use them for free, but if it is for their business, I charge them :)

Just returned from Texas with the two trailers I pictured. It was a nice relaxed 5 day 4 night run on the roads less traveled. Empty I got 20.3 mpg and loaded I got 10.6 mpg, that uphill westbound does use the fuel along with a stiff breeze. Both trailers appear to be well made. Mine is getting put to work today so we will give it the test.

Is the dovetail considered multipurpose because the ramps fold flat? I've been looking at new trailers too, I'm kinda hooked on a tilt trailer for the departure angle loading and unloading but that's a really good lookin trailer.

Yes, they fold flat for a full flat deck or you can stand them up if need be. I looked at this 26' tilt deck, nice trailer.

I'm thinking all utility type trailers, no matter the manufacturer, have come a long long way in the last 10 years.

I agree, just some better than others. I may have goofed on the 8K axle option like you have. This trailer is so heavy that it only has a net payload of 8730lbs. my bumper pull is 10,400. not that any of that matters to me:D When I add the pin weight I should be good for about 12K.

My first mod on the new dump. Added some side boards for more capacity. Most of my loads are light and bulky so this will give me 4 more yards. I did have to move the tarp from the top of the bed to the gooseneck, it covered up two stake pockets.

Boy, I could put that dumper to work for a few hours! Those side boards are pretty blonde looking, are they spruce?

I think it is pine but high grade stuff, #2 & better s4s (surfaced four sides) it is like paneling or cabinet material. The 2x4's and the 2x12 across the front are pressure treated, they didn't have any treated 1x stuff. My wife said it was too nice to use so I promptly went and hauled 2 loads of stinky Alpaca poop, :-laf

Different trailer but you get the idea, lol.

Just installed a 25K Curt gooseneck hitch in the '91. It has had a camper shell on it's entire life so we could only pull bumper hitch trailers. Last week I overloaded my wife with cow poop on the dump trailer and she got scared then mad...I was like oops:-laf so we will trade trailers and try again. She does have to lean about gooseneck trailers but the dump being short it should be a good one to learn on. I have several hundred loads to haul this year so I gotta keep her truckin.

Several hundred loads of manure, Nick? Maybe you need a manure-to-energy plant:D

We are always happy hauling poop, I think it is the methane gas:-laf I only have enough room to stock pile 40-50 loads so it will depend on how it sells how many loads we haul this year. Plus, I gotta keep the summers open for truck pulling!

Not quite an energy plant but it is a processor. The manure is too chunky so this will make it like mulch. Just returned from Clay Center, Kansas 2148 miles. Part of those miles was making a detour around the one POE that was open in New Mexico:) I did have the flare cut off the top of the tub so I was legal, 102" I got 14.6 MPG empty and 10.6 loaded.
