6.9, eh? Hmmmm, where's that puking emoji when I need it?

Years ago when I was in charge of a fleet of buses, many had the 9.0L and some had the 6.9. The 9L were not much better. Definitely a disposable motor. Much preferred the 466DT. I don't know how many 9L injector pumps had issues that dumped fuel into the motor oil. One bus left on a trip - I told the driver - This bus USES oil - you will have to add about a quart every fillup. Please keep an eye on it. Never heard from him until he got back. He said after 5 days he never had to add anymore oil - yup - was dumping fuel in the oil - another motor was trashed. Yea I know - I should have never let it leave, but my decision was overrided by higher ups.

Never owned a 9 liter, but we had lots and lots of vendors, and a few customers who did, and they were a constant problem. Both of my 6.9's(yes I was that stoopid to own two)had total injector pump failures at extremely low miles due to a plastic retainer on the timing advance control. The guy who was doing our pumps and injectors at the time said the basic Stanadyne pump was a good piece, but Mr. Ford had dumbed it down. He claimed it was the only application with the plastic retainer. I don't know if that's true, but they were the only pumps I ever had trouble with.

Finished up the 2x8 side boards, I went with 8' sections this time, the 16' are awkward for one person. Added one step to the rear, still need to install one on each side. I used treated pine on all of it. Ordered some mud flaps and bolt on stake pockets for the sides, not much to strap to on this one. Set the tire air to 95#, max is 128 for 6K.

Good call on the oil bath!!! If you have any issues with your caps leaking these "O" rings are TOP quality and do not leak or tear.

I have 8k Kodiak hubs, this is what I use. National TRUE oil bath seals also.

Welp, PJ knows more than Nick, jeeze I hate that:) I filled the hydraulic tank to half way between low and full. Then on my first gravity down it over filled...grrr, messy Marvin, I hate that on a new vehicle:D So, apparently on gravity down, it don't completely equalize both sides of piston like power up/down does. So now I have to drain some and leave it low.

I already like the torsion axles, empty you can't hardly tell it is there. The truck gets way more commotion on a ripple or pot hole. Loaded about 50% better than the Lamar. I cross a steep little concrete crossing dip in Taylor that just bucks me out of the truck with my Lamar, about half with this one, handles the whoopty do's really well.

The brakes are stronger for some reason. Maybe a stronger magnet or the 10 gauge wire that PJ uses on all 14k and up trailers. I had to turn my boost down on the controller.

Delivered one load and brought one home for my stock pile, nice! The up is about the same speed, down is a little faster. Power seems good.

So if i wanted some fertilizer, how much does it run? i'll come pick it up if you have a loader.

As a TDR member 10% off and coming so far, I think you live in Flagstaff, another 10% off. Yes, I have a loader, 1 yd. bucket. I am out of horse and real low on Alpaca, about 6 yd's left. Lots of cow manure.

What's the big scoop on the roof of the International? Ram air A/C?

Glad to hear your liking your trailer Nick. I'm a big fan of torsion axles over leafs. I actually went and looked at a used 14k Lamar this week to replace my old dump truck. I gotta give the guy credit, he takes some good pictures. It was alot more "used" than it appeared to be, and it's apparent he runs it year round in the salt - which he specifically said he did not when I asked him on the phone. Oh well, the search continues.

I think that is Ram Air for the 6.9:) It does have a Hypermax turbo kit.

With the salt in that area I don't understand why PJ does not offer primer at their Ohio plant, only Texas. It sounds like the Fayette PA dealer is still getting paint complaints on the Ohio supplied PJ trailers. With the extra cost of primer and the extra distance to Texas they don't order from there unless the customer asks for primer. Not to have all their eggs in one basket they have recently added Diamond C and Fox Trail to their lineup.

Hauled a load of pea gravel for the driveway around the house today, the new trailer is 900# heavier than the Lamar, gonna cut into the net...sorta:). Good thing it is heavy duty, I asked for 6 ton and got 8.4 ton, so 32,100 GCW:eek: It dumped without a hitch, no problem. The next load of 3/4" for the street, was 6.2 so much better.

Had a busy day, I dumped 6 loads total, 3 cinders and 1 poop, the gravity down is going to be nice on these days. Then the 6.9 IH picked up 2 loads of cinders, so now I need to restock tomorrow. 6 ton of gravel don't make a very big load.

Which dealership are you speaking of Nick?

I'm starting to look at new dumps near me. Appalachian trailers is made not far from me (1.5 hrs) and something I might look at in person, not necessarily based on reviews but simply because I don't have alot near me I can physically look at. There isn't much around here that I can put eyes on. It's really hard for me to justify a new dump but dang am I getting tired of looking at a bunch of disappointments.

If the right bumper pull came along at a good price I'd look at it but preference is gooseneck. Spencer comes up in alot of my searches but they are something like 7+ hours from me.
Here is the Appalachian trailer I was talking about. Their website doesn't have much for pictures and I've not seen one in person. Maybe you can pick it apart with your trained eye :)

If I did go this route it would definitely be the optional GN. I would think that 15k would be alot of trailer, especially a loaded dump for a SRW on a bumper pull.
