My 03 has been throwing codes 334 341 088 2194 for awhile. Took to dealer and told them it was the solonoid on the back of the injector pump. THis is not a available part so instead of a $60 dollar solonoid you get a new $1600 injection pump. WE swapped this solonoid with one from another truck and the problems ( stalling when first started, engine shuts off when you put in nuetral to coast up to a light, engine sounds like tiny firecrackers going off at idle) dissappeared. I told the service writer and 2 days later they called and said truck was fixed. The repair order stated my complaints-tech verified complaints-called STAR-old to reset codes-problem corrected. Mileage in 22648 mileage out 22648. I left dealership and got 3 miles down road and truck shut off. 6 more miles to get home and truck stalled 3 more times. All the codes were back when I got home. Next morning I took truck back to dealer and BLEW UP. They gave me gas 1500 to use until mine was fixed. Called me up 3 days later to tell me injector pump was being replaced-DUH. They put in injector pump but broke plastic cover on fuel filter-another day wasted. Got call this am that truck was done. Picked up truck and drove 3 miles. Temp gauge was pegged, engine was idling at 1000 rpm and motor sounded strange. Pulled over in auto repair place. They and I check it out-radiatior to was cool. They checked all the electrical fittings and nothing there. I put rag over radiator cap and removed. Looked into radiator-no coolant-tech removed the radiator hose to replace injector pump and he did not replace 2 gallons of coolant. He also left tools in the engine compartment. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the owners.

Sounds like one of those times you wish you had a camera with you. Let us know what happens with the owners.

Sounds like Lithia... Sorry to hear the problems. I hope you didnt toast the motor. . Best of luck.

Its NOT the dealer. Its the TECH. If he's decent enough to replace the pump it amazes me not SMART enough to finish the job and pick up tools etc. HE paid good money for. I saw it on a DAILY basis. Just blows my mind. And NO TEST drive. Bet your bippy that tech would throw a hissy if someone did that to HIS truck or auto. I was a SERVICE MANGER in dealers and use to find that stuff under the hood of MY car also. Would collect it and sometime later GIVE it back.

After reading stuff like the above - and others similar to it - perhaps readers/owners can better understand why SOME of us insist on doing all our own work and add-on mods, ignoring that "fantastic" 7/100 "warranty", and assume the "I am my OWN warranty station!" truck philosophy...

Who wants to walk on eggs in fear and trembling lest they somehow void their warranty - and THEN get "serviced" like the above?

The dealership owner was ****** after hearing my story. He is taking the bill I got from the repair place and taking it out of the techs pay. He also said that if anything might happen to the truck because of the overheating he will give me a new truck. Lets hope I don't have to take him up on that.
