Starting to look at exaust brakes and need some input. I have been on the Pac brake site and BD site checking things out but would like to hear the differences from guys who use them on a regular basis.

Thanks, Steve.

Heet Seeker, When I get home (Mexico) on sunday I will scan and post a sheet that has all of the different Exhaust brakes listed with their differences.

I too am deciding which one to install. Since I want a 5" model it cuts down on the options.

Some recent info I got from a post/email:

- US Gear uses electric solenoids and do not like the rain, sand and salt uses up here in the PNW. May work nice else where.

- BD and Pac both nice, quality units. BD has better midrange retarding power, Pac has better high end retarding power.

Since you have an auto, go with the DTT Smartcontroller. Cost more than the others, but has WAY more features, and its truely automatic. For example a downshift from OD to 3rd locked up when the speed drops way down, DTT will do this automatically at a user adjustable speed, an autoloc you have to press the O/D lockout button, then give it throttle until the PCM engages the lockup clutch, then backoff to get the ebrake effects again. There many other cool features such as the TC saver feature. All in one unit.

Heet seeker:

Also if I remember right the ones that fit behind the turbo only fit a 3" exhaust. The US Gear will take a 4" and is under the truck. I have had the US Gear for 2 years and it has worked well. With the weather on there has been no trouble. True, no salt, or little at that, and sand. I have no reason other I wanted it where I could get to it if neccessary. The de-celerator does not require the changing of the valve springs either. They all work so it's just which do you want.

I'm happy with my choice.

Preston
