Well been searching and reading reviews. Narrowed it down to Sun Coast, DTT, and Goerend. Any input about these or others would be appreciated. I have a few minor mods would like to do more. I don't really tow much maybe a car once in awhile. I would like to do a exhaust brake one day. What are some good questions I should ask. I want to do this once and thats it! What about billet input shafts or billet flex plate? I would like to do injectors and reach 500 hp one day. Thanks again!

Chris

I'm in the same position and going for a Goerend trans. in the next month, I think any of the three is a good choice. I read somewhere that the BD trans didn't need a 500$ controller any longer for increasing line pressure with the exhaust brake on. I don't know what the case is with the three companies your looking at, perhaps a good question for them, I would like to know the answer.

I'm only going 300 to 350 hp and considering the billet input and flexplate, I want 100,000 trouble free miles.

if you are only at 350HP there is no need for billet flexplate. the 2nd gen flexplates hold up better than the 3rd gen. another option is the Goerend "Haisley insert" that is reinforced for about 1/2 the price.

CCamillo - I didn't go with any billet stuff. My trans builder told me as long as you're not doing boosted/locked 4wh launches it should be fine. That was almost 50k and 6 years ago. Note signature info.

Call Dave Goerend, He will tell you exactly what you need and tell you what you dont need. I thought i had if figured out what i needed and i was about $1000 higher then what he came up with. Long story short he saved me a grand. Also i put my trans in and had a few questions along the way about how he wanted things set up. I called him up and he was more then willing to help. Also need to take some pressure reading on the trans and he sent a pressure gauge and test hook up hose for check it. When i went for my test drive he gave me his cell number and told me to stop and call him is something did not seem right. After all the talk about his GREAT customer service i ams sure that you are wondering how i like my trans... Well i love it and wish i did the swap a long time ago. Shifts smooth, so smooth you dont even feel it and towing with it is like towing with a different truck. When i buy another dodge it will get one of his trans installed in it!!!

I had mine built with DTT components. Billet flex plate, and input shaft. Billet clutch baskets and extra clutches. DTT valve body. I had it built to handle whatever I threw at it, or pulled behind it. Works great.

Go Goerend

I have a pretty much similar story like JohnBoy5. I called Dave last July when I knew my 47RE was starting to fail and he had me do some pressure tests to diagnose if it would be a simple problem that I could repair with the trans in the truck or if it was time for an overhaul. In my case my front drum seal was going out and the trans had to come out for repair. Also my TC was on its way out anyhow. I had slipped it a couple times. After we discussed my current HP levels and any projected future mods he suggested one of his stock rebuilds and I installed it myself. He knew just what I needed and didn't try to sell me something more expensive than I needed. When I removed the trans and looked at the front of the TC it showed the familiar scorch marks caused by slipping. I called him when I had it in and ready for the first drive. He had me check a couple of pressures to confirm it was all good. I couldn't be happier with the results. The new trans made it into a whole different truck. It shifts very smooth and firm, but not harsh. Gotta love that triple disk TC. He is highly recommended by me. I would buy from him again without giving it a second thought.

Well I just ordered a transmission From DTT today. I went with the billet input and flexplate. I only want to do this once and be done with it. This way I have plenty of room to upgrade and I only have to explain it to the wife once. It will take a couple weeks to get here but it will be worth it.

Congratulation's,Its the difference between night and day the way these trucks drive with a well built transmission. Next up the Smarty programmer.

Good Luck and fun driving.

Mike

I'm looking at doing the swap to the HX35 so I can get a little more boost (30-35). Then some injectors like +125=150. What do you guys think. I already have the Quadzilla XZT+ box. Thanks

I am also thinking about a bigger turbo. Please keep us posted on the performance if you decide to upgrade. Thanks!
