I remember some older threads on this. One member here had a ton of electrical accessories on his plow truck and ended up installing a large case Leece Neville 140 amp alternator. It's the type normally used on class 8 trucks. He found much better output as well as cooler operation.
One interesting thing he pointed out which I haven't seen mentioned here, is that the stock fusible links are only rated at 120 amps, and if you start pulling too much power from that nifty new high-output alternator, you'll blow the links. I don't remember how he said he dealt with his. One thing I do remember--he was very dissatisfied with the Mean Green ones.
