Hey Guys,

Putting a 2002 intercooler into the 1990 and am needing a few pics of the front end of the truck. I am trying to figure out if I will use a gen 2 AC condenser or make use of the gen 1 unit. My big issue is I cannot remember exactly how the IC and condenser sit in there. Grill clearance will be my determining issue in the end. Cant remember how much the core sticks out.

Anyone have a few pics they would be willing to share so I can get an idea of how that all sits and mounts?

Thanks!

Robert

Robert,

Condenser is 26" wide, 18" tall on my '97.

Pictures shortly, not the best as it is cold out there......

You sir, are a miracle worker! I cannot thank you enough for fighting the cold and taking the time to grab all that for me! THANK YOU!! :):)

That is exactly what I need. Looks like he 1990 will get a gen 2 condenser for a few reasons:

1- The surface area of the gen 1 is 372 sq in. According to your dims that means a gen 2 has the larger surface area of 468 sq in. Bigger surface area means snow and polar bears out my already cold vents. Should be refreshing during summer. :D

2- That is so clean for the mounting! I will post some pics of what I am currently dealing with and this thread will make a lot more sense! Lol ;)

3- distance between IC core and condenser core look pretty good. I should be able to get it into the thinner gen 1 core support without protruding past the grill area too bad.

4 It will amuse me. Lol Seeing that through a tube grill will be a slick as seeing a UFO borrow a cow. :D :D

Looks like the fins are in desperate need of a little dressing up with a wire brush (when warmer of course)!

This truck did not have a front bumper when I purchased it.

If you look where I have made the red marks it shows just how close the old bumper was to trashing some valuable parts when it was run into whatever.

Robert,

The trench in the ice and snow laying on the bumper is from my fist, once I popped the hood I realized that I coudn't get my hand under the grille to release the safety......so I had to improvise..:D

I just love ice and snow......;)

I have two trucks sitting with the entire front ends off right now. Let me know if you need any other specific measurements or pics.

This is what I am dealing with here.

That is the original condenser.

That is the new IC in place of the condenser. Yes, that was a lot of cutting to make that fit! LOL

That is what the condenser needs to fit on top of but still connect to the old lines. Now you can see why i needed the pics. I still need to make a grill and all.
