Balance tires with little beads?? Do they work?

B & W Companion and newer model GM Trucks

Our Boy Scout troop continues to grow. We are currently using an enclosed cargo trailer which is just not enough; it is a single axle trailer with surge brakes. I think we need to graduate to a tandem axle trailer with electric brakes, something like a 7' x 14'. We would keep the current single axle trailer and add this tandem axle trailer.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

Budget

I assume that you are working with a limited budget? That will limit you to the Wells Cargo type trailers. Not a bad choice for the occasional use. If it would be $$ possible a Featherlite all aluminum trailer would be a step up to something that would last longer. In my opinion the Hilsboro Endura trailer is as good as they come, but about twice the price of the common steel frame aluminum skin trailers. The Endura I bought new 15 years ago still looks like new even with more than 300,000 miles on it.

Thanks, Gonzo.

Yes, this is a Boy Scout troop, and so the budget is the greatest determinant.

The trailer will be used eight to ten times each year; the distance will vary between 45 miles and 400 miles. We try to keep everything we do at six hours to eight hours driving at the most. The longest trips in 2013 were four hour drives.

Are there better and worse choices for this use that minimize cost? Anything I should stay away from?

Thanks!

Our troop has also grown and last year we replaced our old home made enclosed trailer with a new H&H trailer ( http://www.hhtrailer.com ). We researched and saved for years and am happy with our trailer. We got a 7' x 16' vee nosed trailer with vendor doors.

We are still setting it up, volunteer help.

If you have any questions, let me know.

In another thread not long ago, someone mentioned that Wells Cargo was bought out by Haulmark. As a previous WC owner, that's sad news.
