After running around shopping last night with the family, it was decided that I should put some running boards on the truck. Does anyone have any suggestions on some nice looking boards? How about something really shiny?

Look at the big tube SS Stull boards. I installed tham on my new 04 and they look great. The fit and finsih is awsome and installiation was a snap. Not the least expensive ones out there but they are nice.

Whatever you end up with (I have chrome Westins and like 'em) with the 4x4 DRW, make sure you pay the extra money and have the ones that extend back to the front edge of the tires allowing you to stand on them to access the bed. I didn't, and we carry a small step ladder in the bed as a result. I think it was a bit less than $200 more, and I wish I had spent the $$...

J&J stainless are shiny. I have had mine on for a year now and they still look good. They are well built and although a lot of work to put on the brackets, boards etc. fit well and are real sturdy. They are not cheap but I got what I paid for.

J&J Enterprises are the best. Hand-made from Stainless. With or Without Lights. They are expensive and usually have to be ordered, but they are worth it.

I installed the diamond shaped running boards that extend all the way to the front part of the rear tire. These boards are a Dodge item. They are adjustable and allow you a step to reach into the bed of the truck. With these boards you get diamond shaped front and rear mud guards. Good Luck, Jim.

Jim Pottienger I can't find the Mopar running boards online anywhere like you're talking about

I looked into J&J but all their styles that I like stick out too far and I don't want anything protruding beyond the outer edge of my tires.

Vaughn, I don't think there is a pic of them on the web. I saw them in the Ram accesory booklet at the dealers. There is a bunch of shiny diamond plate stuff you can get from them.

And those J&J boards look pretty nice. They have the slender look that I'm after, not something designed around a 3" or 4" pipe. And how functional(other than looks) are those rear boards with a canopy?

I have had the J & J Classic SS on my 03 over a year and they still look new. Only complaint is the brackets for the rear 'bed' boards are a b***h to install. Wish I had paid the $120 the dealer wanted to install them all.

I bought my diamond plated running boards thru the Dodge dealer in Decatur, Texas. Same place I bought my Dodge-Cummins. They do look really good on my black truck. Jim.

Boy do I ever concur with that remark!

Mine has the short step bar ending under the QC rear door. The trailer hitch with a 2" drop below the receiver is still 24" off the ground! The sides are even with the bottom side of my arms and I am 5' 11" with a long reach. Barely able to open the tool box, much less reach down into the bed. I can't get to anything without climbing in the bed of the truck. Gotta change that...

I have Lavurne stainless on mine and love them. They are a little pricey but I like the fact that they are easy to keep looking good.

I see in your sig that you have a 4x4 so if you plan on any offroading I think I would go with the nurfs. First time you hit a rock with your RBs they may be damaged and trying to buy just one RB cost almost as much as the whole set. I know because several years ago I hit a recap from a big rig that was in the middle of the road. Spotted it too late to move over and hit it with the right side tires. Man did that thing do some damage to the right RBs.
