Engine is non intercooled out of an 89 and bone stock. It is now resting in my son's 95 S-10 short bed pickup with the Getrag 5 spd behind it.

The plan is to get gages, a set of PODs, turn up the gov spring a tad, and make some other standard pump adjustments ;)

We'll probably keep the stock H1C but not sure what to do about the exhaust housing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Jay

Depends on what he wants to do with it. From what you have said in the past, I assume it is going to be a show-off/ drage type truck, so a 16cm may be the best bet. but, if he is looking for bottom end spool up, a W-G 12 or 14, with the gate set to about 25-28psi (peak eficiency of the H1C) would be the way to go. Go smaller- great spool up; sacrifice top end flow. Go bigger- great top end; sacrifice bottom end.

Before throwing money at the PODS, how bout seeing how the s10 frame, rearend holds up to the stock Cummins torque. Run it for awhile with the gauges in stock form see how things holdup. JMO

Wouln't it be too cool if that torque monster scatters the rear end?

Sorry EC ... just dry humor. (I know YOU would chuckle at the thought)

You know there is a class @ Muncie for conversions, RIGHT!? AND... ... . a drag strip too! How convienient. hummmmm... ... ... .....

Trailer it on over Bud!!!!

Scott,

That wouldn't really bother my son... . as long as he wasn't too far from home.

Actually I think he's expecting to do that ... he'll just hook the trailer to his 94 and go pick up the pieces. :-laf

Thanks for your input guys.

Well, I called PDR and ordered a set of PODs (w/adapters), pyro and boost gages, and a pillar pod for the S-10 yesterday.

We decided to leave the stock turbo as is for the time being until we dial in the axle ratio/tire size, install the injectors, and make some pump adjustments.

Then we'll see if we need faster spool up or more air... ...

or another axle :D

I'll keep you guys updated as we go along.

Hey Jay, put another pound of lead in the right shoe.

Well we put in the PODs, boost and pyro, and I made some pump adjustments... . turned the fuel screw in all the way and backed it out 1/2 turn, increased the gov setting by two turns (no tach installed yet), and adjusted the idle.

Also installed the Scott special diaphram spring. ;) (Thanks buddy)

Ok. . boy does this thing smoke! :D  I think it roll it out with the best of them!! Oo.

And it screws!! I drove it and it's scary :D :D

Only three problems... .

1) Clutch lets go at close to 30 psi boost in 4th and 5th :-laf :-laf

Solution?? Looking for suggestions form you guys with the BIG hp

2) Turbo takes toooo long to spool.

Solution: I'm thinking 14 cm. Got to be non wastegated as there is NO room to move the downpipe :(

I think I'll be calling PDR again soon!!

3) The gearing is still too low, probably due to the small tires (14 dia). 1st and 2nd are useless.

Solution... TBD
