Just got a new Traeger BBQ, any good recipes

Will be buying a one or two year old Rubicon soon. Have been out of the jeepin loop for awhile and was wondering if there are any problems with them like our lift pumps and front ends. I know what to look for in the way of use and abuse but haven't had much time to check on ongoing mechanical or manufacturing problems.

The only real issue that I've heard of is TJ related, not limited to the Rubicons and that is that the exhaust manifold tends to crack on them. The other thing is to make sure you put a rollover loop around your grille. If (or is that when) you go over, the radiator is the highest point and almost ensure that your vehicle will be disabled... quick way to make a bad day even worse. As you probably know, the dana 44s aren't true 44s... they are a dana 30/35/44 hybrid so there are some strength questions, but certainly much stronger than a standard 30/35. Other than that, I can't really think of anything to look for specific to the Rubicon. All in all... a great purpose built vehicle. I would seriously consider getting rid of the Ram and the Scrambler if they came out with a diesel in the Rubicon Unlimited.

So I am finally getting around to doing the 2. 8 Liberty diesel installation in my new Wrangler. I picked up a silver 2006 Rubicon Unlimited that we tore apart with 3 miles on it. We even trailered it from the dealer to the shop. Here is the shot of the new motor we found which also has no miles on it. I am gathering all of the parts to finish the swap and also will be testing a prototype chip from one of the major diesel performance manufacturers on this one

Thanks for the rundown CJ8. Would you happen to be a member of the Roughriders? That diesel conversion looks nice but I bet will take alot of time and money.

No, I'm not. I hate to admit it, but I've been down here for 2 years now (job transfer) and have only taken the Jeep out 3 or 4 times! There always seems to be something else to do... working a lot, working on the house, spending time with my new wife... We've both decided though that this fall we're going to plan a few trips.

Guys ... As much as I HATE to admit it it is NOT my Jeep. That was a swap that was done by someone that was on the Jeepers forums. I WISH it was mine.

Me ... I am working with a buddy of mine doing a 4BT swap out in his 93. HIS 4. 0 can go tho but it sure ain't new and pretty :-laf

Found a nice one on Sunday in Phoenix for a really good price and was going to buy it today, so I called last night to set up a meeting. Guy said the new owner was just leaving the driveway.

Oh well, just keep on looking.

At the risk of hijacking this thread, did anyone else notice Jeep is eliminating the 4. 0 and going to a V6? Seems like a real shame to me... I like working on the straight 6.

Ryan

I'm with ya, Ryan. I've got a moderately modified 94 XJ with the 4. 0l. Easy to run, makes great torque down low.

And I've got a 4. 0l for sale. But it's in MI, and I'm not keen on shipping it.
