Welcome. And thank-you for joining! It's nice to see someone on board that has a sense of humor AND knows half as much as myself. Now, perhaps, I'll take a break from answering everyone's questions.



I know others will "One up" me but,,,,,,On another note, I shoot, and custom load. I don't shoot anything smaller than a 45/70. My fingers are not nimble enough to load anything smaller. I was given a . 22 Marlin @ 13 and had to step it up at 15 (years age) to a Marlin 1895 45/70



My Father recently built (a new home) and added this real nice/custom rifle range. Situated next to his new machinery barn complete with metal siding. I not only destroyed his new metal targets but now the East side of said barn is painted with the lead from 350 grain Horandy lead.



I can't recall, but I "believe" every adult in my family is licensed for concealed carry. And the wife (my wife) shots trap. My step-Mother shot her (second) deer this year with her . 44 mag. The first one was w/the compound. She sells real-estate. And packs. My wife has her own Cummins Dodge.

I know the real story about why all Americans think they should all have a gun.

You see back when your forefathers were doing up your constitution, it was a hot summer day and they were complaining about the heat and the long sleeved shirts they were wearing. Somehow they had to figure out a way to word the fact that they shouldn't have to dress like that. Someone came up with the idea that they should be able to have short sleeves. If any of the other parts of the country are like here, the local law enforcement is busy broadcasting on the news to all the potential criminals how many positions are going to be eliminated due to budget cuts, so we figure by summer we will have to provide our own protection, especially at night out here in the sticks where it takes 30 minutes to get a car on a GOOD day.

I have never cared much about . 50s. HOWEVER I believe ever law-abiding citizen has the RIGHT to own one.

I don't recognize that one. Is it a one-off or small production?

Just because I don't care about them doesn't mean someone alse can't love 'em to death!



I like about everything else though.

Glocks and 1911s

DA Revolvers and thumb-buster single action Colts

Smoke Poles and AK and ARs (actually love ARs)

O/U and Side-By-Sides and Benelli M1 Super 90s

Varmint Rifles and Pre-'64 Model 70s



The only other thing I don't PERSONALLY like is "hand-rifles. " Actually they're great, they just need a buttstock. LOL

For ME a handgun needs to be "holster portable. "



I wouldn't begin to tell someone else what THEY should like though.

91. 5oneowner, Welcome Aboard! We have similar interests, I see! My Dream was to be a Custom Gunsmith and I went that way with early training and could do the work but didn't know how to market myself. So, I worked as a weldor/fabricator/pipefitter, till I retired. Still tinker with "rifleguns" (Alvin York's terminology) and try to shoot as often as possible. I have a 9 year old Son and we get to share this great hobby when he is not loaded with school work and his behavior rates the priviledge. I hope he will learn the fundamentals of gunsmithing, machining and welding as he grows. Right now he is learning to get his act together, in school:-laf. He wants to be a Train Engineer. You must have picked the better career because I have another 40 years before I can think of retiring.

Obviously I'm making a lot of assumptions of your age and circumstances of your retirement to make that observation though. .

Anyway, keep that kid shootin'!!!!!!!!!!

I assume you load that Marlin '95 up to its potential and shoot the round nose Hornadys. That was my recipe until the LeverEvolution ammo came out. I can't wait until those bullets are available as a component.



I'd like to get my wife a Cummins but the ones I like aren't big enough so I've thought about putting a 4BT in her Suburban. It'll have to be an automatic.

She's an AWESOME full-time Mom but she obsolutely CANNOT operate a manual trans!

ATTEMPTING to teach her how to drive a stick was about the most frustrating and scary thing I've ever done.

She actually did a passable job in my Dodge when we were dating because you CAN'T stall the thing. The Ford IDI turbo? Fuggetaboutit!

I'm no longer into reloading and don't shoot a lot, but I did build a range in the basement of my previous home. 25 ft. Good for . 22 up to . 38. I did shoot a few . 357 mags down there but the noise was just too much LOL. My arsenal is down to 5 handguns and a 16 ga pump... . and lots of short sleeve shirts. :-laf:-laf

Its a State Arms Rebel, I got it from a guy that needed $$$, so the price was right. I figured that I may never have the opportunity to buy a used 50 again, so I bit. It really is a fun rifle to shoot.

None of us can change the past. I am 60+ years Old, got married late in life, tried to plan well. Mostly Blessed. I love Welding, Machining and building Rifles. I dont do to much of any of that now, just a project here and there. Working on a M-700 Remington, . 308, built on a used receiver, H-S Precision 1-11" twist barrel, McMillan stock and a . 25/20 on a Ruger #3 with a Badger Barrel. I have my "likes and dislikes", just like you (accuracy and precision are my interests). However, Since my position is No Compromise on gun control laws ( sounds like yours is, also!). I try not to seperate classifications/types of firearms. "If we dont all hang together, we most certainly will hang seperately", is a worthwhile philosophy! Feel free to e-mail me any time. GregH

I agree, we've already "compromised" ourselves out of a lot of our rights.



Sounds like you did things the way that were best or worked out for you and yours, that's all that matters.

Life's kind of set-up backwards anyway. By the time you have time to REALLY spend with your kids they are long gone. Bein' retired while you're raising your kids has to have its "UPS. "

I started having kids when I was 27 and I know I am a better father than if I'd been 18.



BTW, looks like your Dodge is EXACTLY like mine.
