That is what the forecast calls for, a light dusting. It's 32 and cloudy, no precip so far. I'm glad the AC unit I put in the shop also has a heating element.

My wife laughs at me(well that's nothing new), says, "Aren't you the guy who went snowmobiling in Maine in the dead of Winter, and bragged it was 30 below zero"? Yup, guilty as charged. But I am an absolute desert rat, now. This Summer was the roughest since we have been here, but I'd still take that and be able to jump in the pool.

No problem, the weather is what this is all about. I can relate to the Desert Rat. I with stood -70 wind chill, laying under the car in freezing temps in the snow. Now I have a very fine temp differential, 81 I'm hot, 79 I'm cold. The Desert cold is very different than the cold in most northern states as it seems to cut right into the bone. But it's a dry cold, so is dry ice and we know what that is like .

This is the time of the year when I'm glad to be in Az.. Mid 70's in the day and 50's at night with no salt or other corrosive materials on the road. I was singing a different song May till mid October tho. The Daughter, Son in law and Grandchild have the nasty time with mainly temps in Minot with some teen's and single digits right now. They were here a little while ago when we were in the 80's and 60's then went back and walked straight into freezing temps. We have now moved from the surface of the Sun to the valley of the Sun.

Yeah, when I retired that was our intention. We stayed in Minot last Summer/Fall/Winter waiting for the Grandson to see the World which he did on Nov. 2nd. We stayed until Dec. 1st and saw as low as -2,-3 actual temps. Over the summer I installed 4 tank heaters, pipe heat tape on all the exterior drains, insulated and enclosed the under belly and installed 2 200 watt heaters in the under belly with thermostatic plugs. Total AC draw was 12 amps with everything going. The only thing I did not do was heat the dump valves which was a mistake and if we had stayed there longer that would have been done. Laying on the freezing ground with the wind whipping around with a heat gun on the valves was a major PIA. We also had a heated supply hose. When we left Minot we stayed in Flag for a week then came down to the Valley. The VA diagnosed the cancer and the man killer shot in May and we sat in this God awful summer waiting for the PSA to drop enough to start radiation which finally happened in Oct and radiation started in Nov. Everyone has been told they need to get this done as I am out of here standing or in a box by May. I may have to hang around the first part of May as the Man Killer shot may be due then which is good for 6 months unless the VA will do it where ever I am. This i not want I intended becoming a snow bird but **** happens and I will deal with it. I spent 40 Summers working outdoors everyday and now 41 and I do not want anymore. Every summer became harder and harder.

I dont know what you guys are trying to pull, but it dropped down to 23 today and yesterday there were a few snow flakes blowing around. I need to start watching my Karma meter before I start teasing you guys.

Several inches of snow fell here last night, then rained all day. All freezing over tonight and in the 20’s tomorrow. Snow again Friday...and we’re in for a long nasty winter I’m afraid....

Everything is a frozen block of yuck...black ice patches on the roads. A real dandy of a day..

We are getting some cold temps here in Central Oregon but no moisture at all, should have decent snow in the mountains and some rain in town if not snow but dry as can be still. Going to be a looooong fire season if that doesnt change soon.

Motorists should be alert to brief corridors of near whiteout
conditions while traveling on open stretches area roadways of
Northern Aroostook county into the afternoon hours. Roadways most
subject to blowing snow will be north-south orientated.

Try to avoid north-south roadways subject to blowing snow
whiteouts. If you must travel on these roads, however, the key is
to insure that there is plenty of distance with vehicles ahead of
you before entering any whiteout, and then slow down entering the
whiteout.

Whiteout conditions should dissipate late this afternoon after
sunset, but low level blowing and drifting of snow may continue
into the evening hours over these stretches of roadways.
