We're at 54 right now with heavy rain. Supposed to drop into the lower 20's this evening. Should make for great travel conditions.

Right now in the Midwest, 10 deg. and dropping with 35-40 mph wind. Expecting below 0 temps next several nights with a few days where highs are below zero with 45+ mph wind gusts. Luckily, yesterday's snow was 7" of fluff. Drifting, for sure, but hanging tight. 01 is the drift-buster if I need to get out.

A local weather outpost 7 miles from me recorded 17" as of Monday morning (snow started here Saturday evening). I have no idea how they figure that when the snow is light and sustained 30 mph winds with gusts to 40. Some spots were less than 6" others were waist deep.
We average over 100 inches of snow a year, living just inland of the great lakes most of it is wet and heavy. This was light and fluffy and drifted like a mofo.

As crazy as it sounds I'd take the wet. Harder to move but once it freezes it just doesn't drift like this crap.

46° and raining hard....lots of water on the roads.

Will all freeze solid tonight...

Thats exactly what we had yesterday. Now only low teens but supposed to be back to sub zero over the weekend and next week.
I wish it would just stay cold. Yesterday made a real mess out of things.

I have to give a tip of the Stetson to the groomer operators, and the clubs who bust their butts dealing with property owners, marking and maintaining trails and bridges, and putting in the hours in the groomers.

Woke up this morning at -13F, per the weather man for my area! Next week they are forecasting a high of -8F during the day, we are suppose to get up to 6' of snow on Sunday Night. Good old winter weather in the mid-west. One day you have +25F and the next you have -0F or lower for a week or two.

My oldest son is the only one who has to work out in this weather. He put a picture of himself all bundled up for the cold yesterday on Facebook. All you could see were his eyes behind the safety glasses. He is a pipefitter and they are working in downtown Chicago right on the lake front at Navy Pier building a hotel.

Wow, the SIL, Daughter and Grandson are in Minot ND, actual temp -18 with 8mph wind -35 and suppose to go to -30 tonight actual temp

Yeah, we in the freezer here in Iowa. We get the -20's tonight with wind chills -50's. Sitting at -1 with 30mph wind right now with sunshine. Yesterday when front came in was darn near 60mph gust with 35-40mph sustained winds. One brutal smack in the face after a mild December.
