Several have asked... Did I wear my seatbelt?

I do not remember. I usually put it on in bad weather, but not in good weather. I did not hit windshield, but did hit passanger door. I am thinking I did not put it on.

Please, no comments on I shoulda, ect... Its over and I am alive.

Mack,

No criticism at all - been there and done that myself. I was in a collision right outside NASA south of Houston back in the late 1980's while driving a rental car on company business. Totalled a Pontiac T1000 (their version of a Chevette - no great loss). The engine was under the transmission tunnel, I was told. Neither the passenger nor I were wearing seatbelts. I went into the A-pillar and just came out with a concussion, some bruises and abrasions. The passenger went head-first through the windshield; his head was through the glass to the level of his eyebrows, which the glass removed along with his scalp. Many surgeries later, he's not too much the worse for wear.

I won't put a vehicle in gear without a seatbelt now. Anyone who rides with me either puts on the seatbelt or gets out. Unless you've been through one of these, you probably won't understand why I'm fanatical about seatbelts today. I guarantee you, it'll make you a convert!

Glad you're still with us and able to go new truck shopping. As much as I love my 2002, if I were in your shoes I would at least take a good hard look at a 2003 before I decide which way to go.

from one of the pictures that posted it did not look like the air bag came out. is that because it was off or did it just did not work.

glad to hear you are ok and that you are still around to talk about it

As I understand it,, You didn't hit the semi head-on.

You hit him at a 90* angle? (but still going straight for each other)

So you could say he ran over the motor?

BTW, How did the semi look ?? (after the wreck)

Glad you are ok!

At least you're on the right side of the grass. That's incredible. I also can't believe they won't let you have the clutch. The truck is nothing but spare parts and sheet metal. I'd try to buy it back if you can. I'm curious as to what the semi looked like, also.

Mcummings - ---

I hit the semi at about a 45 degree angle, and yes, I figure that the semis' trailer tandems took out the front end including the engine. I did not get to see the semi. The paramedics insisted I go with them.

I am glad the ram is as tall is it is. It could have been ugly, if I had went completely under the trailer. I would have been decapitated (lost my head).

Doesn't sound like he was. read up about a dozen posts or so.

The cab looks like it is almost completely intact. 7000 pounds, and a five star safety rating worked well.

Just think how much money you would have saved on gas if you had been driving a Honda Civic... It too has a five star safety rating... ;)

E7,

Wow, just looked at the photos and think I should take back my suggestion of buying it back from the insurance company and parting it out! Doesn't look like much to part out to make it worth your while unless there is a huge market for rear tail-light lenses - since that's probably all that is left untouched!

Both my wife and I just stared at the photos and said wow... . You've been given a second chance!

E7... ... ... ... . it took me a page and a half to pick my mouth up off the floor after those links to the pics:--)

As stated above, you have been given a second chance!

Glad to hear your not too bad off.

George

E7. . Wow. God was watching out for you for sure. So glad you are with us, even if your truck isn't.

I would say get an 03. The better steering and tougher axles and frame make the choice easy. Not to mention the HPCR motor. This time next year will will talking about the insane power levels the common rail engines makes with little smoke, and little effort... .

A comp or Pmax type of unit, when designed for the common rail motor, will allow fueling beyond even teh craziest plate in a 12v. Won't be hard on the pump either, since the injectors control injection duration

how was the combo???

Mack,

Just seen your sig and was wonting to know how the 275's and the pm3 worked to gather and where was the slipping point in the clutch and how mutch smoke would it put out??? Thanks Justin

E7,

I am so glad your Ok. Those pics make mine look like nothing, and I T-Boned a mini-van @60 mphs a year ago. $10,000 rebuild followed, It is amazing how WELL built these trucks are. I know exactly what you were feeling. The state troopers said that I and the woman in the mini-van should be dead. The pics of both are in my album "My Stacked Ram" the wrecked pics are the before, the ones with stacks are what she looks like NOW.
