I have had trouble with the Wait to Start feature for several years now. When I first got the truck the WTS light came on immediately with the ignition start. After a year or so it then would not come on for 10 secs after the ignition was turned on. It then worked fine and after the wait the truck started fine.
Two years ago I lost the WTS altogether for about 3 months. Finally it started working again but still only after a 10 second delay. I was never able to find out why it quit working nor why it restarted on its own.
Now it has quit again. The truck starts right up but the WTS light never comes on. I have checked the heater relays and they are not being energized. I also have checked the Intake Manifold Air Temperature Sensor. The wires leading to it when the ignition is turned on show 5 volts on one wire and the other wire shows a resistance to ground of 45 ohms. From the service manual it appears that that wire is supposed to be grounded but I cannot figure where. Its part of a wiring splice that includes several sensors.
So has anyone else had this problem? Should I just assume its a bad ground and jump the wire to ground? This is the only problem, all other sensors are working fine. Any ideas??
