Is this the same guy you mentioned several months ago when I mentioned his SCR / exhaust might be restricted with caked up DEF?
If the DPF is good, you should have zero black soot in the tailpipe, even with several hundred thousand miles.
Newsa that is what my friends 13 looks like. The Service guy was not in on his appointment day and they had no clue what to do but scan the truck and charge him $200. He said NO WAY and has yet to get a new appointment. The rookie service guy wouldn't let him talk to the Tech.
I have a persistent High NOx code that has been there for 20,000 miles. Truck runs great and it still does active regens.
I will run it as us until it has problems. No other codes ever show up just the High NOx. I have a check engine light on my dash that doesn't bother me, anymore.
I imagine that probably soot has coated the catalyst in the SCR so it's not doing its job?
But as long as it pulls fine, I will just drive it. If I have to replace the entire exhaust system, I will. (But only if it no longer runs or gives me some sort of countdown.)
My Maxcare has expired and I imagine so has my federal emissions warranty.
I'm not using a lot of DEF tho.
Regen and soot have exactly ZERO to do with SCR.
I realize they are separate, however I thought that the DPF was upstream of the SCR. Thus, if soot is coming out the back side of the DPF, it might coat parts of the SCR with residue.
Possible, but your tailpipe would also be black.
You linked the two systems by making comments about a high nox code and active regens, no link exists.
Do you have a sooted up tailpipe?
The SCR is not a particulate filter, so soot in would be soot out.
Possibility: You might try looking at the DEF injector. A clog may lower DEF usage resulting in higher NOx under load. Also, an EGR cleansing?I have a persistent High NOx code that has been there for 20,000 miles. Truck runs great and it still does active regens.

@Cummins12V98 here you go. I've been using them since 2002 and never noticed that. And my first 01 was made in St Louis.

Might as well give up and buy everything from other Countries!!!
My 98 12V was Made in St Louis and my other 12V.
Really appreciate the pic as it saved me from stopping at MotorTruck to take a pic of a filter to prove to this guy on another forum that insists the filters are US made as he knows the rep. Like a friend always says "prove it".
Thanks!!!
