Louvered Tailgates

Has anyone had experience with the various brands of Louvered Tailgates. Our truck is an everyday driver, usually without trailer, and I wonder if this will really help the MPG. It will certainly help my wife see the ball hitch.

Locally available brand is Hardy by Western Manufacturing in Iowa. I know there are other brands as well.

Got mine @ Camping World and I think (OHO) its the same make. Like the louvers, prevents "eyeballing" contents in bed. If it isn't the same make, will edit this and add mfgr.

I t does help on the runs out-of-town BUT, only about . 5 to . 75 gain from previous testing.

PS: I may be under est mpg but, I have no EXACT records. W/O the OEM tailgate, I noticed a 1. 5 (approx) gain, as this was the only time I did a 2 way trip to Laughlin w/o the gate.

Also is the weight factor, this is lighter but heavier than NO Gate!!

Thanks Ben. I wish it gave better milage, but the visibility issue probably makes it a good buy in any case.

Native Los Alamos NM here, ... but don't hold it against me.

Louvered tailgates? Haven't seen them. I punch louvers, but the tailgate is double thickness, so I'd have to take it apart to punch it, and it would STILL only be cosmetic!
