Do you ever love and hate your truck at the same time? Went to the local service station to fill my tank, after filling I found a puddle of diesel on the ground  , gold leaking on the ground. Pulled tank and the seal for the fuel sender/fuel pickup was gone. Searched in the tank and it was lying on the bottom of the tank? I replaced it with a new seal and put it all back together, all good right, WRONG! While test driving the truck with a ride to town I rolled down the window to hear that sweet sound and it dropped a few inches and stayed there. Took it home and removed the door panel, the gear for the window motor was broken in half. Luckily I bought the motor this year so it will be warranted. I just can't get it until Monday. Sometimes I hate loving my truck so much that I can't trade it off. ;)

Greenleaf, I see you are in Ohio. I grew up in Pomeroy Ohio and Mason WVa. Left there when I joined the Air Force in 1971. I don't miss that cold and snow I have to admit. Found the sun shine down here and retired here.

Know what Ya'll mean, I've had to replace the head light switch for the 3rd time since I bought the truck in 2000. This time I'm adding some relays; 2 for the headlights & 1 for the running lights. I have all ready installed the beefed up head light switch harness. I guess the bean counters @ Dodge never thought anyone would keep these trucks longer than 3-5 years.

RLyons,

My Uncle Jim grew up in Racine, Ohio and moved to New Haven, W. Va. He ran the W. Va. Whole Hog Sausage company there for many years. He had started out working for Bob Evans, before he went big time. He is in a nursing home now and the company was dissolved. My Aunt Phyllis still lives in New Haven.

Yep know those places real well, I used to work in Logan at the Chevrolet dealer. We lived in New Haven when i was born but moved to Mason when I was 2 years old. My Grandmother lived in New Haven until she died. I have a cousin still in New Haven and a Sister in Pomeroy. My Aunt and Uncle still live outside Pomeroy. I worked for a short time at Page Chevrolet in Athens and at a small used car lot in Mason. I lived on Rt 33 between Pomeroy and Athens for two years in 1975. My uncle "Putt" Lyons was the Town Cop in Racine for many years. My ex-mother in law and I ran a pet shop in Racine for a short time and I worked for Pennzoil station in Racine for a short time also. I know most of that muddy water of the Ohio bend area very well. I remember the Whole Hog Sauage company now that you mention it. I was back up there about 4 years ago for a visit.

Paychk, I have'nt had any problems yet with my headlights but mine has relays for the marker lights, fog lights and trailer lights that the previous owner installed, good thing too as I have a lot of lights on the truck so I am sure the switch could not handle all them. This is the second time I have had a problem with the window motor, last time it was the motor, this time the gear split in half. Seems like it is always something going wrong but then again I am very picky that everything be as good as it was new or better so I fix alot of thing just in case they may be wearing out. Over all though it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned.

Sounds like your PO had it all covered. Dodge had a problem with the 3500 and all the extra clearance lights; in 99 they issued a safety recall that covered the 94-97 models (IMHO it should have covered all Duallys), it added a relay for all the marker/clearance lights. I'm going overboard and adding the headlight relays, I don't want to fuss with that switch any more.

I also am starting to have a love hate relationship with my truck. I bought it Septenber 16th. Since then I have rebuilt the rear end, rebuilt the transmission and changed the head gasket. I love my truck when it throws me back in the seat, but hate it when it makes a strange noise or vibration doing it. Oh well with great power there comes great responsibility.

Most guys have a love/ hate relationship with there wives also..... The main differance between them and a 1 gen truck is that ... . The truck can always be fixed and will stick with you for years... ... .

Wives can never be fixed and if you scrap her you still end up paying to get out of the deal... .

At least if you ever have to scrap a Dodge ... The scrap is going to give you a little money back... . LOL

Girley Man

Don't be such a girley man, you guys just THINK you got troubles, try one in a Motor Home if you want to cry a lot.

Love or Hate ?

I have been driving my 91-1/2 now for 3 yrs. I was planning to buy a newer

97/98 but I keep finding things I like that the newer ones don't have or is totally differant. Most of the problems on mine I could fix myself if necessary. I have a friend with an 05 and he does not like his compared to his 2002. Another fella just bought a 06 and he hates his loaded per gallon and I did not have the heart to tell him what I get when loaded, it was exactly double his miliage and I have 410 rears. RC :)

Truer words were never spoken. Not to mention most of the time I can figure out how to fix the Dodge!

That troublesome RV doesn't deserve you, why not scrap her. I would take that 545 and GV off your hands ?

How do you get a smilie on here anyway ? W
