Why do we put up w/ all the b. s. piddly crap w/ these dodges. I love the cummins diesel, have since I was 8 years old (400 big cam) I know alot of guys who have powerstrokemeoffs and no, none nada problems. dodge needs to get it together. I,m looking at 8. 1 hd's pretty hard. Just asking why.

I have to whisper this so my truck doesn't hear but (what problems?) She just turned 32 K miles, and I work on her alot, but it's just maintenance and upgrades. She feels cared for:D

My wife likes her jewelry too;) So everyone's happy!

Did they tell you they don't have any problems? I have a bridge I can sell ya. ;) It's a nice bridge. :D

97,000 relatively trouble free miles here, most problems I've had were self in-flicked.

Rob

self in-flicked problems hurt the worst!!

106k So far this wonderful truck has cost me around $500 for trac bar, vehicle speed sensor, engine speed sensor, IAT sensor. The other 10k was spend on "upgrades" :D jk Now in the next 106k it is bound to cost a lot more due to said upgrades but that was/is my own doing. If something else is lookin pretty good go for it see how is treats you, life is to short to be unhappy.

Good luck

Craig

all have thier quirks

New2dodge

All manufactures have thier little quirks and problems. And depending on how you use or abuse your truck will determine how many of the quirks reveal themselves.

As for Powder Chokes not having problems. Please:rolleyes:

I work in a area were there are probably more powder Chokes operating then anywhere. And guess what when you talk to the mechanics you find out that even the fords have problem.

But we are fourtunate because we have this great resource called the TDR were we can post are questions and seek the answers to our little quirks. And who knows through all this teamwork we might even come up with a couple perminate fixes for our little quirks.

Very simple, go over to the bright side and buy a powerstrokemeoffs and all your problems will be over:rolleyes:

Would it make you feel any better if I sent you a link to people that are having issues with the powerstrokes? The problems they are having make yours look small. I just traded in my 2001 with 95,000 miles on it. The only thing I ever did to it was change the fluids. Trust me, if your buddies are telling you they aren't having problems they are most likely passing you some buffalo chips. One of my firends and co-workers recently traded in his 2002 Ford CC 1 ton for a dodge. Now the truth comes out. He doesn't mind telling me how many times he actually had his trucks in the shop. The 2002 was getting it's third set of brakes at 38,000 miles and was told that he had to foot the bill this time. ($2000) The 2000 he had before that had 103,000 miles on it and was in the shop every other month. He also had the same issues with brakes on it.

1996 Dodge 3500 V-10 - sum of "problems": OEM battery (2), oil pressure gauge sending unit.

2002 Dodge 3500 Cummins HO/6-speed - sum of "problems": none. Never been back to the dealer.

I drove Fords for over 30 years and never had one as trouble-free as my 2 Rams or my wife's 2000 Durango SLT+. By the way, I've also owned Volvos, Hondas and currently have a 2003 Acura 3. 2TL-S. The Volvos were more trouble prone than the Dodges but less than the Fords. The Honda and the Acura (so far) never went to the dealer for a warranty problem.

So, buy a Ford? Based on my experience, that's not going to get you any improvement in reliability. :(

Rusty

What problems are you having/have you had with your truck? Mine has been by far the most reliable vehicle with the least hassles/problems I've ever owned and I've put more miles on it than any other.

Alright, I'll step to the plate! That darn plastic sunglass holder has almost made me switch to a Ford! :D

P. S. Wouldn't trade for anything.

other than upgrades that Chrysler didn't have the balls to make to improve their product, my repairs have been non existant since I quit taking it to the "factory authorized repair center". Most of my repair problems were related to dealers trying to rob DC and making mountains out of mole hills, then having to get their sloppy work redone over and over till it was right. I wish my truck had come straight from the factory and had never seen a dealer . Also wish I had never taken it in to one. Good truck, crappy service.

Problems.

Here is the sum of mine.

1) Hard start begins at 84,000 after fuel filter change by dealer. Lift pump replaced. Hard start continued. Dealer applies hard start TSB which now prevents me from priming the fuel filter after a change (bump starter = no lift pump run due to TSB). Hard start continued.

2) 2 years later and out of warranty, VP44 dies at 138,000+ miles. Hard start magically cured. Live and learn.

3) Second lift pump replaced at 140,000+. Dealer did not tighten the output banjo fitting on lift pump. Tightened the banjo fitting myself and no more problems.

4) PCM fried due to an electrical short at 142,000+. Fixed electrical short and replaced PCM... no further problems.

See a pattern here??? I do. The dealer has inflicted more problems than the truck has had. Lesson Learned. Psssttttt! dealer, I have a little something for you... meet me later!

Truck now has 149,000+ miles on it and counting daily.

Why did I buy a Dodge instead of Ford? Easy. This is my second CTD and the first is still doing great at 240,000+. When I bought the first in '92, I talked to the people that WORKED both Ford and Dodge. No kidding or bias, every ford owner had several EXPENSIVE problems, every dodge owner had no problems to minor INEXPENSIVE problems.

Want a ford or chevy? Get one.

If you will post your problems, you will find plenty of help here. This membership pays for itself many times if you let it. Oo.

Sorry for such long post.

94 3500,,,, carries powerjokes and duralaxes all day,,,,,,,, 480,000 plus miles,,,,, 1 clutch,,,, fifth gear fixes,,,,,,, thats all

"new to dodge"

Why dont you share with us all the problems(with the truck) that you are having so we can better understand your frustration... .....

First off, the Ford guys are either lucky, liars, or just oblivious to problems. How would you feel if you had to buy a new aircleaner because your stock one was letting dirt by (the PSD boys call this "getting dusted") and Ford now offered an upgrade kit named "severe duty" so they wouldn't feel obligated to stand behind the "super duty" version they sold you with the truck. Oh yeah, the cost at Ford is about $250 + $60 to install it.

Second, I have felt the same way many times in the past, total dissapointment with Dodge. But once I upgraded, repaired, re-engineered, and learned where to get work and parts at a reasonable price, I would not part with this vehicle for anything.

I would never recommend a Dodge without a CTD. I have had to deal with too many Dodge issues.

Biggest advantage over the other brands it the existence of the TDR:) :)

brakes

my buddy with a f##d is on his 4th set of ROTORS in 40k

i replaced my pads at 40k half gone-my only problem-tract bar-much cheaper!!60k buy what you want:rolleyes:

My '01 got its first attention of any sort (other than routine service which I do and a raft of "stuff" I "had to have"), at 62,164 miles, two weeks ago.

By that many miles my last Ford had had a raft of work, and I was not smart enough to get rid of it untill I had run it 135K miles----I added it up and my Out of pocket repair cost on it exceeded $8,000.

My last Dodge cost me a total of $1,200 out of pocket(diff. rebuild) be the time I sold it with 130K miles.

Problems!? We don't have no stinking problems! What kinda problems you got man? I got 342,000 on mine. . not a problem at all. I still have the original 5 speed, haven't lost it yet. . (knock on wood) I can't even think of anything thats gone wrong on my '96. One of the nice things about the Cummins engine is all the support you get from the TDR. No problem goes unsolved here.

125,000 miles here. Only things replaced are 1 track bar. 1 set of front brakes,1 lift pump, 1 set of batteries, and a set of Larry B's starter contacts. After driving Chevy trucks for 20 years I will never go back. My stock auto transmission is still holding out and it has had an EZ on it for a long time.

My brother in law has a 2000 with 172k on it, he's used one lift pump up, and just replaced the oil pressure sender last week. Other then brake shoes oil and diesel fuel... no other "problems".
