I am new to the cummins engine. I rebuilt a 5. 9 and put it into a 93 Chevy. I have low boost, about 15 psi max. It doesn't have the power I thought it should have. Any ideas of things to check? I don't get alot of smoke.

Details of engine

95 motor with 370 pistons, complete rebuild and balanced

97 P pump turned up by local fuel injection shop

370 injectors

HTB2 turbo and pulse manifold

Piers Cam

Head studs and O-rings

1st thought, no boost to the afc, or bad diaphram in the housing. Second idea, plate is all the way back, still running stock plate? Boost leak.

What kind of egts are you making?

Sounds like a really nice engine.

Good luck, RR

EGT's stay under 1000. Everything in the pump should be good. Is it posible that I'm not getting enough furl from my lift pump. Like I said, this is in a 93 Chevy. I used the stock GM electric pump becuase my mechanical leaked. How much fuel pressure should I have & can my electirc pump mkae enough?

The fuel pump is probably the problem. A simple test of the fuel pressure before the inj pump will tell all. I believe 15-20psi at idle, min, and it just goes up from there to a max of about 50 at high rpm. Someone may chime in with real numbers.

If ya rebuilt the whole engine down to the pistons, why oh why didnt ya replace the lift pump? Compared to the rest of the job, the lift pump is a quick and painless job when the engine is out of the truck...

good luck

I used the stock GM because it was there and the stock Dodge leaked.

What is the best pump to get? A stock one, FASS, Glacier, or other?

Kevin

which cam plate

I am back to using the stock fuel pump but still not am better. I thought the fuel injection shop was going to turn the pump up. I guess what I wanted and what they did must be 2 different things. Anyways, I am looking for 450 HP. Which cam plate should I use?
