The last time I was through OK City (or near it), I was told that OK has started adding big taxes to fuels just like every other state... the reason they are more in "norm" with other state... it is statewide too, not just OKC... This was in June... about the cheapest fuel on that trip (PA to NM) was in the reservations in New Mexico...

About the cheapest fuel I have seen in a while is Virginia... the Flying J at the 323 (Winchester, VA) on I81 is about the cheapest around... the guy hauling the J's fuel told me they burn on average 90,000 gallons PER DAY!!!!

MMeier,

If you are passing thru Phoenix, the "J" has #2 for $2. 77/9, today. Just went up the other day from $2. 75/9.

I was wondering what was up with OK. Traditionally, they were one of the cheapest states for diesel. I always tried to be on empty when I hit OKC. Not anymore!!!

Ulsd

ULSD will affect the power and fuel economy of equipment by 1%

under typical operating conditions so there should be no noticeable impact on the overall power of the vehicle. But lubrication will have to be added to the fuel to keep 2006 or earlier trucks from having gasket or leaking problems on the fuel system. The EPA is going to emplement these changes in fuel as much as some of us don't want it. At least the NOx and soot will be reduced in the air making less polutioned. Opps, I am sounding like the EPA. lolol

According to the latest news, you'd better fill up now as the Alaska pipeline will be shut down due to repairs on the line(leakage). THEY say that prices WILL go up $10 a barrel. this is news as of 8/7/06 AM. Bush????? stated he would sent in emergency fuel?????????????

I refueled at 3. 09 in Sunland CA today. Don

You guys here that Prudhoe Bay shut down the fields today. Small oil leak turned into finding out alot of the pipes are junk and need to be replaced. That's ~400,000 barells a day.

exactly. Maybe they will find the $ to pay overtime to speed up repairs.

I'm not a pipeline engineer, but pipes that are 4 years past their design life, and hadn't been internally inspected for 14 years? It took a 210,000 gallon spill in March for them to inspect them now.

(but these companies say they can be trusted to drill in the rest of Alaska)

On that note, this is where the eco-nazis could be useful... if you want to drill in Alaska, you have a list of guidelines you MUST follow governing roads, accessways, clearings, spills, pollution prevention and control, air pollution, etc... and you will have {insert your favorite eco-nazi here} making sure you follow those guidelines to the letter and there will be monetary fines (in the millions of $$) for the first few offenses, then you will be banned from drilling in Alaska. You will have NO legal recourse... you screw up, you're done. If we even have a hint of any wrong doing, you're done.

It might seem a little harsh, but it would help prevent Big Oil's monetary influence from fogging peoples responsibilty...

And don't get me wrong, I'm using eco-nazi jokingly, because it sorta fits in here pretty good! The environmentalist have their place... and this is a good one.

This whole "pipeline break" is a scam and a conspiarcy on the part of the oil companies! There is no leak! (has anyone REALLY seen this supposed leak??... no, just pictures of a staged leak!!) It is just another reason for Big Oil to jack up the prices again. It will be all over the media. Enviro- whacko's will be all over the news saying. "See, see- oil drilling= bad, bad. " Prices go even higher.

Then... . nothing will be fixed (cause it A'INT broke) and guess what... . no softening of the prices at the pumps when the repairs (sic) are done! Big Oil will say... "we have to keep gas prices high to pay for repairs to the pipeline... " (which was never broke in the first place. ) B. O. will make EVEN MORE money by this scam! There is no leak, it is all a conspiracy to make more profits!

Hey, stranger things have happened- just ask Vince Foster.

I've read stuff for years about corrosion problems on that pipeline. BP doesn't seem to fix anything until it falls completely apart. Most of the time someone gets killed before they fix it.
