Does anyone have a part number for the low vacumn warning switch located on the drivers side fender? Looks like a hockey puck with a vacumn line and a round electrical connector running into the side of it. Ive been searching at the local parts stores to no avail.

vac switch

I don't think even Dodge has this item. Try a salvage yard. I seem to remember that the computer takes one of its inputs from this switch-- bad switch---no computer output function. Not certain about that however.

It is an input for the 'puter. The 'puter will turn the "Brake" light on and the "Antilock" light on when it senses a low vac situation.

Tested by shutting the truck off and lowering the vacuum untill the light on the panel will illuminate.

The switch itself isnt bad. However, the nipple that attaches the vacumn line broke off flush while re-wiring the fusible links on the fender. I found one on Chrysler parts direct but its pricey. 60 bucks and some change. The vacumn line is plugged for now so its no problem except for the annoying light. Thanks.

I remember reading about someone using JB Weld to attatch a new nipple to the switch, just use a little piece of tubing that will just fit inside the rubber hose.

Hope this helps,

Caleb

This switch is used on 1990-2001 model trucks, so if you are trying the recyclers route look at the newer trucks too.

Repaired mine this weekend actually. Broke it off while replacing a bad booster on a road trip 5 months ago.

All I did was go and buy a set of vacume hose splices (in the plastic package in the "HELP" section of autozone) and drilled the housing out so I could insert one (forget size) in a little ways and then JB Welded the thing in. Quick and easy, cost 2 or 3 bucks (for like 10 assorted sizes, nice to have available) since the JB Weld was laying around.

Nothing that a . 45 round can't cure in short order... . :-laf

Or a piece of electrical tape for a less "permanent" fix.

If your ambitious you could get out the wiring diagram and splice the right ones together or if your not, just unplug it. I have used the quick fix
