I thought I'd never ask such a question...

BUT - it does make sense, no?

Is Dennis' TS Performance 'red flamed white streak' lowered? Sure looks lower than OEM...

i was thinkin' the same thing ...

if i took out the lift block and added the T-Rex mini packs in the rear, would it

1) level the truck up

2) help keep the pinion level under hard acceloration

I don't know if the truck of Dennis' is lowered but I do know the truck he lost at in Muncie is. If any of you were there, I'm speaking of the green 2500. I lowered that one about 4". But to lower the rear, the traction bars are necessary. I removed the lift block and two bottom springs. The removal of the springs made the springs lighter and the bars stopped all axle wrap. The front spring were cut to height. There are a few more thing to do, but it can be done and it works.

. . Preston. .

I've also been wondering the same thing. Dennis' truck does have a nice stance for the wheel and tire combo, IMHO, and I would bet that it is lowered some.

The green truck is 4wd! Lowered is the way to go. Preston makes some very functional slapper bars that do the trick for traction.

Green truck = 4x4?! VERY interesting... . it must be close to riding on the bumpstops, right? That truck sat pretty darn low to the ground if I remember right... Anybody got any pictures of it?

As it is - in OEM form, it doesn't look like there'd be much room between the axle and the oil pan if you lowered the truck at all...

This might be yet another factor that will force me to fabricate an airbag front suspension setup...

Thanks for the info!

OK, I'll throw out a dumb question. Couldn't you put some type of spring compressors on the springs to temporarily lower it, just for the track? Or would that damage something on the runs?

Well my 4wd went down, and my traction went up. It is a bit unique to have a lowered 4wd truck. Jacked up trucks are not unique. Don't get me wrong I used to have 35s on my truck, but it feels like you lose 100hp on the street. Lower riders can't get it up! The ETs stay way down!! lol

I've heard horror stories about vehicles with cut springs... mostly related to how they ride after you cut 'em...

Jengle: Have you ever seen someone try to compress a 2500/3500 coil spring? Every time I witness a spring swap... or a coil spacer/lift installation... I'm nervous. There's a lot of potential energy in a compressed spring of this magnitude...

If this was on a car or lighter truck... I'd probably try a spring compressor... but not on something with springs this big.

I have NEVER been a fan of lowering anything... but my green/silver '94 2500 is just begging to do some racing. It's 99. 44% paid for and it's time to start having fun with it... or sell it for a down payment on some real estate.

Matt

It all depends on how much bread I can make on the side once I do purchase some real estate... that is a big factor.

That truck has a lot of sentimental value to me, though...

I hope that radiator leak doesn’t stop him from coming to Randy’s off road diesel drags in Sept, GOT STOP LEAK?

I know nitrous is a big no-no:rolleyes:, but both him and Darrin's green 2500 (diesel only) were in a different ballgame than anyone else at TiM and Boiling green. Where is this deal in Sept?

Where is this deal in Sept?

It's a 3 day event, starting with Piers' dyno day (BC) Friday, sled pulling (Lynden WA) Saturday, and drag racing Sunday at Pacific Raceway, formerly Seattle International Raceway (Kent WA).

I understand that there are some pretty big sponsors this year, like Dave Smith Motors and Budweiser (? ).

If you do all three events, points are added up for a grand prize, on top of individual prizes for each event...

Come one, come all! Oo.
