Looking to see if any way of lowering the rear of my 2017 2500 4x4? The front is 41.5 " from ground to top of rear wheel while the rear is 43". I have heard of cutting the springs, but hear that is not advisable.

find a piece of plate steel for the bed and load the springs up. This would lower and probably give it a better ride with some weight loaded in the bed. That's the main reason there is a bit of height difference is for the rear springs to be loaded. Stay away from cutting the springs! Opens a big ol' can of worms!

And could be worst than an Iranian suicide drone in a bad wreck. It could cut you and the cab in two.

You have coil springs or maybe even air bags, leave it alone. You will need the factory rake of the truck for a possible 5th wheel, you mentioned in another thread.

My fronts came with 86psi in the fronts, so could try 86psi front and 35psi in rears, JK.....

Not a clue how they thought 86 was a good number.

True...depends if the height is low enough to get under the 5th wheel in the first place.

What's on the doorlabel?
The typical 60/80, and it just came from the wash bay dealer from prep.

I did not get to reset them yet, lots of odd temperature swings this time of year. But not 26psi worth.

28 deg this AM, they all could use some work.

But I would adjust the tire pressures to make sure your level are where they need to be.

Just so new people understand, the weight on the front axle varies very little with different loads in the bed of the truck. The two or three things that would effect in the most would be:

1. Truck Camper(could add or remove weight from front axle, depending on camper)
2. Dead weight on a ball hitch for a convensional trailer(removes weight)
3. Large fuel tank in the front of the bed(adds a little to the front axle)

The 80 lb inflation number for the rear axle is for max allowed load on the axle. I have gone around and around with Costco's tire shops for years when they rotate tires. I come with an empty truck and they insist on returning it to me with 80 PSI in the rear tires. I end up letting air out in their parking lot before driving off.

I left the fronts aways the same on both my 2001.5 and 2015 RAMs and varied the rears based on towing or non towin 5th wheel trailers, and also increased the rears when hauling 3000+ pallets of wall blocks. Driving home from Lowes I could feel that the front axle was a little lighter.

Costco sets it to door pressures to prevent litigation. If they set it to a lower pressure and you have a blow out because you overloaded the tires they could be liable. Most chain tire places do the same; however, some are more flexable than others about it.

Heck, my 2500 isn't rated to carry a load that necessitates 80 psi in the rear...but that's what the label and monitor wants though. Thank goodness for Alpha OBD.

I think it would be the dealer job to adjust prior to delivery. My guess is that at the factory all wheels are inflated to 80psi as probably no one knows if they go to front or rear.
Also its better for the tires shape sitting on the lot with fully inflated tires.

One of the 1st things I checked actually when I jumped in and just laughed at how bad of dealer prep they did with that. I was not going to have them fix it was already there too long.

Most likely maxed out for transport. Those car transports use chain winches on all four corners and suck them down.

When I bought new tires & at every tire rotation for my 06 at Costco they would set air to what ever I requested, in winter I requested 60 psi front 55 rear, all they did is have me initial the paper work that I requested those air setting...

2014+ RAM 2500 REAR COIL REPLACEMENT - REVERSE LEVEL
$925.00

Have we missed the point of what will happen when he drops a couple K of pin weight on the rear of a 2500, I will level out the truck pretty well!

With the Kelderman reverse level rear coil replacement truck can be level empty or with 3K in the bed.
