Has anyone replaced the LSD with a locker? Detroit or an air locker. I am looking for experience with a daily driver that tows a trailer. If this is you are you happy with the change? How long have you had it? Would you do it again?

I've not used a Detroit locker in a CTD but if you do a search you will find some info. Sled Puller recently mentioned in the Competition forum, that he disliked the street and trailer towing characteristics of the locker but was happy that he now had the strength for sled pulling. Several of us have "restacked" the clutches or tightened up our factory LS. If I remember correctly Dana has installed both the Power-loc and Trac-lok in our differentials and there are strength differences there. I very much dislike my factory LS after beefing it up, it now pops and jerks on turns. This has caused me to rethink the Detroit Locker and may allow a ARB Airlocker to be my next install. I installed an Airlocker in my Dana 60 front and have had no problems. HTH's, Larry

I have been reading alot of the locker threads and it's a tough call. I think the durablity and longevity of the detroit may offset the noise and such (in my opinion). I hope I'm making the right call... .

IMHO...

If I were to go with a locker in the rear I would use the Detroit Locker because it has a proven track record of durability. Our trucks see much more severe duty towing/hauling than the usual off road trucks.

If you don't like the pops and jerks, stay away from any type of locker as they all pop and jerk when turning tight corners. It's the nature of the beast when it locks and releases. Some folks get used to it, others can't.

ARB is great but expensive, and you have to engage it manually. I don't know how well one will hold up on asphalt running locked, should be fine off road tho...
