I just bought a set of 2006 17" Aluminum rims from a fellow TDR member that I am going to put on my 1999 2500 diesel that had 16" steel rims. I noticed the center caps from the 2006 will not slide over my lug nuts on the steel rims and I was wondering if the lug nuts for the 2006 aluminum 17" rims were different then the lug nuts for the 1999 16" steel rims.

I thought they looked the same... the lugnuts between the steel and aluminum are the same in the 3rd gens... I also have 2nd gen lugnuts at the house and by glancing, I would think they are the same... are you sure you weren't hitting the hub because the 3rd gen hubcaps are not as deep since the hub doesn't protrude on the AAM as it does on the Danas...

Try it on a front wheel...

Mine second gen, 19. 5 wheels, so different animal, but I got my wheel simulators from Rickson wheels--they have an ad in TDR.
