I'm looking to replace the stocker with something to get me by until I convert it to the 5600 next year. I don't want to spend a ton of money on a SBC just yet, will the Pro Gold get me through for a year or so??? See my sig for mods, so far I haven't slipped the stocker towing 13K, but I am real easy on it! :D

Thanks

Tom

2001. 5 2500 4X4 5-Spd Laramile SLT LB QC Black. DD TTPM, DD Stage-1's, AFE, Bully-Dog 4" Pipe, Geno's Banjos, Silencer ring MIA, JAKE Brake, 3 Autometer's on the A-Pillar, 2nd(and last) lift pump, Redline oil throughout

IF you are only looking for another year's use from your NON-slipping stocker, WHY would you want to spend substantial $$$ for a clutch you apparently DON'T want for long term use, and THEN throw still MORE $$$ into finally getting the one you REALLY prefer?

(not to mention the duplicated LABOR involved!)

Sure doesn't make sense to me! If the current stocker was slipping, it might be different - and in your case, *I* would continue to baby the stocker until I *could* afford the one I wanted - 1 purchase, less investment! ;)

THAT said, my LUK Cerametallic replaced the slipping stocker on my '02 used for RV towing - I appreciated the $$$ saving over the competing brands of equal ratings, and haven't regreted the performance in the least!

I don't know about the current LUK offerings but my Pro-Gold with a stock truck would not hold in 3rd gear in the 5 speed if you hit it really hard. They may be offering something different now as I had one of the very first Pro-Gold clutches they ever shipped.

If you want a cheap clutch to use i have a centerforce clutch with pilot bearing brand new still in the box I will sell you. But if you want a clutch for the long haul remember you get what you pay for.

I threw my stock clutch out at 50K. I installed the Luk and it has done all right. I run a VA box, Mega Cannon, and have a Fass. I use my truck to haul a 12000 boat up some pretty good size moutains.

Thanks for the input Guys. I think I will change it, pretty easy job. The pedal comes almost all the way up before engagement, so it's real close to being done, maybe I have been lucky so far? It has 80K on it. Maybe I will just do the SBC Con-O and hope the 4500 stays together!! :D

All of the clutches I have had in my CTD have started to engage fairly close to the floor and will start to disengage with just a slight touch of the pedal. If it doesn't slip I would leave it.
