I have ordered the more permanent/better fix for my track bar on my 2001 H. O. diesel 4X4.

The Lukes link has loosened up twice now on me, both times causing a repeat of the death wobble situation!

When I installed it I followed the instructions carefully. For whatever the reason it loosened up, with less than 5 thousand miles between each episode.

I am tired of fooling with the wobble, and tightening it back up, so will go with the 3rd gen track bar retrofit. I am buying it from Source Automotive.

Same thing happened to me. I also went with the 3rd gen tb. It's pricey but I'm satisfied with it going on 2-3 years now and no more death wobble.

It seems if you use the Lukes Link you need to keep checking adjustment. Some have it and love it. i got tired of chasing death wobble and replaced it. I used the adjustable 3rd gen tb from PSC. I don't think they sell it anymore. I also used the DSS and 3 turn PSC steering gear which they don't selll anymore but PSS does.

Good luck with curing the death wobble. It took me 2+ years and about $2000+ to fix it but the truck is sure nice to drive now. The 3 turn light valving steering gear sure makes steering effortless.

Dave,

Your previous posts were helpful to me in finding the death wobble last year, thank you.

Yes, I think the Luke's Link is a band-aid. I am not patient enough to frequently crawl under the truck and check it for tightness. Also, the death wobble is so scary I want it "gone" as much as possible.

I know that the DSS steering stabilizer is available from several sources, but can you elaborate a little on the steering box? My stock box "seems" o. k. to me, I don't have any appreciable wander. I am thinking about adding the DSS when I start hauling a gooseneck this summer just to increase the stability. I am not sure if I should replace the steering box too, if the truck is not wandering. Who is PSS, are they a supplier of the 3 turn box?

The last time I checked PSC quit selling the Dodge steering box. PSS is Power Steering Services in Springfield Mo. Here is a link:

Power Steering Services, Inc.

They make a 3 turn box variable ratio 16/13:1. Do a search on PSS and lots of reading. Several have them and are happy.

PSC does sell a Dodge Cylinder Assit but its pricey. You should get the DSS to protect whatever box you have or get and see how your steering is and maybe then get the 3 turn box. I think you will be happy with a 3 turn verses a 4 1/4 turn stock box anyway.
