Mike, the Fall Brawl is scheduled for Oct 9-10. I'm going out (assuming my belt doesn't shred again  ), you should come. These things are a blast.

Don't worry... . I got a tow strap :D

Scott,

any word yet on the belt situation?? What caused it and or did they fix it without screwing anything up?

Man i am in serious diesel withdrawl!!! Anybody know how or where i can get another one for cheap and trade a car in that i only made 4 payments on?? This getting rid of the truck for marriage thing bites!! LOL.

See ya'll at Fall Brawl.

Larry

Larry, see my update up in the Engine forum ("Belt Shredding").

They haven't even LOOKED at it yet. :-{} It's a BELT, for freak's sake, not an engine rebuild. This dealer has taken care of me in the past, but they're dragging their feet on this one.

Hopefully, it will be back in service in time for the Fall Brawl. :-laf

Hey Larry. .

I think a few of us tried to warn you about the consequences of this. The only problem you will have now is being seriuosly upside down in the payment book area if you try and trade again, only this time it will be much worse than the last time. You'll just have to man the dyno at Fall Brawl that way you get all the diesel smoke you have been missing and I can walk around for a while outside and see what I have missed the last couple of years.

Scott. .

Keep your chin up and it will be righted as dealers are never fast on work for warranty stuff, you should be well versed in this after the Phord Debacle you had. If it gets close to Fall Brawl we will just have to get Tom to put it on his trailer and tow it up or we will arrange a ride for you sitting on Hoot's train whistle's.

Greg. .

Have you reached "cult" status on the Phord site yet or are they still taking potshots at me and I need to go defend myself,LOL. :-laf :-laf .

Other Ramblings from the Tune-Up Roll... .

Ever wonder how a guy who buys a brand new Ford Lightning truck and tells us how bad it is and keeps saying bring on the SRT-10's does when has nothing to back it up. Yep,that was our resident dyno wheelman Dave. Talks trash all day about wanting to destroy a SRT-10, but, relates to those who stuck around about how that won't happen till one of us goes to his house and finds his keys for it, as he lost them in the house somewhere and couldn't find them. Anyone care to chip in for one of those recoiling keychains he can keep on his belt so he doesn't let this happen again. BTW,I did tell him not to worry about the SRT-10's until he finds a way to run past some of our diesels. :D :D :D .

Ernie requested for us to have Kevin bring the chopper back to Fall Brawl so he wouldn't have to do all the manual labor in knocking down the old barn. "Just get Kevin to land and blow it over" he said as it will make alot less work and much easier for them.

The "How to get beaten by a farm truck" street sleeper award went to Rick(Antrim93) and his sleeper first gen. After stomping out the numbers his truck laid down and FINALLY relaxing(I don't think he ever believed me when I told him we would not break his truck, till we finished)he was heard mumbling something to the effect of a yellow first gen flatbed on his target list. Untuned, just assembled and running a HX35/12, the truck was very inpressive and with a little work KTA better keep an eye on him.

ICEMAN's ride looked super showing a new Sport Front end & wheels and still makes me drool. I don't think this truck has ever looked this good and Don has definitely done a nice job on it.

One thing that amazed me was how many different people we seen this time. Its was nice to see a few Chevy's show up for a change. I never knew you could even get a Duramax with a stick till this weekend and they said I could never learn anything new. I do not know what I have to do to get the Ford owners to show up. It seems like they can all talk a pick-up load of crap on how bad their trucks are but when the time to play is at hand only a few show up. I am at a loss for this and can not figure out how to explain to them this is for fun and not war games,go figure. I always appreciate the Ford owners who continuely show and support our shows ,they are the ones who know what these happenings are really about.

Well enough for now and time for a nap... ... ... ... Andy

Andy

LOL!! Andy!!! Oo. :D

Well guy's... ... As you all know, I was pretty dissapointed in the numbers my truck did because I expected a little(more like alot!) more

To satisfiy myself, I went to the track tonight to see what she would do ;)

13. 577 sec. @ 99. 25 mph on #2 alone with the tailgate on and in the up position :--)

#ad

I think if my truck was dynoed in 3rd gear(1:1) with OD locked out, it would show the kind of hp it takes to make the 8040# lead brick do that kind of time ;)

So what do you guy's think? What if at the Fall Brawl we dyno it both ways, in OD from 65 to redline(the way it was done), then in 3rd w/ OD locked off from 45 to redline :D

I'll leave it up to you guy's to decide which one counts  How does that sound :D

Andy,

You ruffled a few feathers over at the TDS didn't you!! LOL!!!! :-laf I think it's great!! :D

I think you know me well enough by now to know that I'm not a "brand basher" or a "my truck is better than yours" kind of guy!!! I'm a diesel nut just like you guy's, regardless of who makes it and I believe that's why we get along so well!!!

I also believe you know I'm not a complainer either!!! I accepted and posted the numbers from Kauffman's over at the TDS. I did state that I didn't feel the truck ran as well on the dyno as it does on the street and that I was dissapointed, but I made NO excuses for the numbers!!! :{ The guy's at Kauffmans run an excellent and first class operation and I don't doubt their skills, abilities, or equipment at all!!

Just felt like I needed to emphasize that! ;)

Doesn't make any difference to me what gear you dyno in. Just remember we all used the same dyno. ;) What I find a little more humorous is what you said to CHawk above. You pretty much told him you didn't think he had a chance against you in a race. His truck is running in the 12's. ;) I know you were just funnin' but I think it would have been interesting to see. ;) Also just curious, why does your truck weight so much? I have never seen a ford weight that much. My buddies 4x4 crewcab dually doesn't weight that much. It doesn't even come close to that. All the 3/4 ton SRW trucks I have owned in the past were around 6500 lbs.

which gear...

Someone bust all the myths for us concerning this deal with running in OD vs. 1:1

I've seen so many posts both ways... I 'was' a firm believer in that dynoing in 1:1 would even the playing field... and that if you used 4th for instance in a 6spd you would be at an advantage (lower final drive ratio) and be able to 'spin up' the dyno drums "faster" resulting in the perception of more power than dynoing in 1:1. BUT my truck made 840 lbft at the rear wheels in 5th... and 880 in 6th (OD) by 1900rpm right when the clutch started to slip like mad?!? Who knows what it would have made if I weren't limping around on the stock clutch...

So... all ye that know the real deal chime in please!

Dockboy, if you and Andy can kinda keep this "ruffled feather" thing going , maybe we can ruffle enough Ford feathers to get more of them to come out to the events. What do ya think?

Good times at the track, by the way. I also wondered about the weight of your truck. Maybe try and go to a different scale to compare the #'s. I know after seeing you you dont weigh That much. LOL. Keep working on it, as I would like to see how high you can go in the # game.

How many guys would be interested in having drags on Friday evening of Fall Brawl with dynoing on the next two days?

Doug, this is a good idea. We tried that last year and got rained out at Maple Grove. Have all the guys that want to race on Sunday, dyno Saturday, so there is no interference. If there is no work conflict, I will be there. What are your ideas Doug?

Lloyd,

My truck gets wieghed at least twice a week. Sometimes at the dump, sometimes at the lumber yard when getting sand(I'm a mason ;) ) I stopped at the Flying J on the way to the track last night and wieghed it at the CAT scales there and it came in at 8040. It always wieghs the same, 8000 to 8100 with me in it ;) Remember there is a plow mount on it(~200 lbs) and my toolbox has at least 3-400 lbs of crap in it  The cross pipe for the stacks wieghs 100 lbs.

And yes I was just funnin with CHawk :D I knew his truck ran in the high 12's

Last year we had Beaver Springs Raceway reserved... ... But do to the rain it was a wash. I was thinking if enough are interested that maybe we could do drags of friday the 8th in the evening.
