Hello all,
I have decided that injectors will be my first power upgrade for my 2001 ETC. After being a member of these boards for over 2 years now, I have come to the conclusion that Machs are the way to go, however, I am debating between Mach 1s and Mach 1. 5s. I attempted to do a search on Mach 1s, however, was limited by the size of "1" and adding quotes returned no results except those for Mach 1. 5s or 1. 6s. Hopefully, I'm not asking something that already has a great thread somewhere that I missed.
Here are my parameters in my decision:
1) I drive a 5-speed and have 48K on it now. I do NOT wish to replace the clutch for at least another 2-4 years. My $$$ has a limit.
2) When I do replace the clutch, it will be with one that will hold 350-400hp, and at that time, I will add an Edge EZ, MAD ECM, or equivalent.
3) I will run these injectors withOUT a boost fooler or modified wastegate
4) I want better fuel economy
5) I want more useable power
6) I live and play around 6000 feet and above.
7) I use the truck to commute 90% of the time and tow < 5000lbs about 6 times a year. These towing trips do include Colorado passes over 11,000 feet in the summer.
8) Smoke is not that big an issue for me, but EGTs are.
9) Reliability and longevity are my goals, not high HP/Torq.
10) Injectors were chosen first because I believe they are easier on the Cummins than a timing box... see 9 above.
So what do you all recommend given these parameters and why? See my signature for current status of truck.
Also, as a side note, if I get a 4" exhaust at the same time or after installation of the injectors, what will it help (mileage, egt, sound only, etc), if anything?
Looking forward to your opinions! Thanks!
Steve
