Off Roading San Felipe meet?

Maddog, can you tell me again what your numbers were again when your top turbo broke the elbow off? HP/Torque/boost and at what rpm? And also what you did the second run before the cartridge ripped apart? I was too busy hooking up the dyno tach on the trucks to pay attention.

There are some guys on the diesel stop talking about the Dmax that put numbers close to 800 hp, but when you made 800 hp, you still had more rpms to go!

Nick

Maddog called me right after and I thought he said it was 848hp and at 2150 rpms--it was hard to hear him, so I may have got it wrong, but I think this is close ---chris

Those stupid duracrap dummies, they are saying at thedieselplace maddog only made 780 and that superdiesel made HP king at 793! But they also said that they finally hit 800 HP also. 793 isnt 800! Good job Maddog.

First run was 805hp @2200rpm's 98lbs of boost when the discharge elbow flange broke, at that point the horsepower graph was going straight up still. Second run 878hp @2400rpm's with 109lbs of boost when the 4" boost boot from the big turbo to the little blew off and also damaged the B1 on steroids. Oh and the horsepower graph was still going straight up. :D

The runs were made with a . 040 jet of NOS.

At the track the truck pulled off a 1. 64 60' 7. 06 1/8 and a 11. 07 @124. 2 mph in 1/4 not bad for a 7000lbs 4X4 crew cab at 6000'.

And people call me crazy ;) Good job!

I've blown that same boot off on mine too but I guess I was luck as it didn't hurt anything. I've now gone to a different style clamp that seems to be worth the change!

SO did Superdiesel in his dmax, but they shut him down as he had ice forming on his intake or something. Did i mention that the chevy did this with stock injectors and stock turbo. Matt

If he had ice forming on his intake, then he must be running really heavy on the laughing gas. Pretty soon the nozzle probably would have frozen shut anyway.

the way I heard it from superdiesel was they shut him off with about 600 rpm to go because of his water injection iced up his manifold and his fan was blowing it around in the air and he was forced to shut down.

For the stock injectors and turbo thing, Thats true on superdiesels truck but on clints D-max (clint owner of ATS trans) with his aftermarket injectors and Aurora turbo made 74?. All the D-max guys said "you comquat boys just wait till we get our aftermarket trubos and we will show you" well, they showed us. But they sure didnt show maddog! Hey maddog, How many RPM's did you have to go on your 2nd run before they lifted on the truck?

Drag Diesel,

I was told the first run of the day (the d-max we're talking about) used a correction factor? True or false?

Kurt

True, based on weather conditions. We enter the bar. psi, temp and humidity, and the dyno spits out a correction factor. After seeing the "Almost 800" run, I turned the C. F. off, so no one could gripe. The C. F. for that run was 1. 19 : 1 . So if you take that out of his peak number its arround 660hp which is still impressive none the least.

Does this help?
