Ouh No

My friend that is short 12 valves told me you could only get 450hp out of a 24valve truck. :( I guess he was wrong. :D

That is just toooooo cool man.

Jet Pilot

My guess is that you started the run at 2K for the pump speed! Good to see you lay those numbers down, also were in the heck is chocolate town... I feel stupid. Last I'm wondering what kinda line pressure your running in unlock and lockup, would like to discuss this with you in PM, I have some solid numbers now to bounce around with others.

Great #'s Doug! Bet you were jazzed to see that-although the head gasket probably put a damper on the day... ...

Jason

Doug ... .

Excellent #'s ... . John P and I were having a conversation about your head gasket a few days ago ... . hope we didn't put the jinx on ya ...

Yow! You aren't sitting still, are you JetPilot? I hope it doesn't turn expensive

How'd you get it home? What have you found? Inquiring minds want to know!

450hp out of a 24v is a piece of cake... . its 500+ (only diesel) that gets tricky.

Way to go Jetpilot!!!!

Glad I picked a comfortable chair on the porch way back when 400 out of a 24v was the ultimate goal:D

Just realized I hadn't said anything else on this thread, congragulations Doug, you kinda jumped out of the weeds and snuck up on everyone ;)

Am I reading the graphs correctly, it looks to me like about 500HP and 900ft. lbs gained over about 300 rpm:eek: ????!!!! What the hell must that feel like in the seat..... as much thrust as your "daily driver":D??? Something had to give:{ . Good luck with the repairs, Jetpilot, Jim G.

I think you need to make a graphic for your "Go pedal" that reads... "Press hard to fly Low"

WoW. 511 on #2 only,, I like that. I've got a trick or so up my Sleeve for the Muncie Event.

Cool numbers Doug.

Too bad about the headgasket,, I guess yah gotta strengthen up the weak links somehow.

What Boost #'s were you running? and are your intercooler and intercooler hoses OEM ??

TIA,

Merrick Cummings Jr

Oh My Gawd ..... THREE TIMES THE FACTORY RATED POWER..... 3X people threeeeeeee times

Big negative TMTT, my crusier has a 'GOT DIESEL' sticker  . Actually, in all honesty, we don't have anything but the prereq. 911 decals and the dept's script on the doors. The Chief refuses to turn our cars into rolling billboards. Our friends at DASI  pushed the last Chief into placing domestic violence tags on the rear bumpers, but they are now a thing of the past.

MCummings,

The intercooler and the intercooler lines are stock OEM. As for boost #'s I am not actually 100% sure the max I have hit... . My gauge is marked to 60 and I have seen it real close to that number. My guess is somewhere around 56-60 lbs. The dyno runs only take a couple seconds at this HP level.

I don't think the boost killed the headgasket. I think I got too much N02 in the system and caused it to detonate:(. Thats when the headgasket let go.

In any case it will be a bit until I have the truck running and I can go try and increase these #'s some more. My real hope is to get it to the track and see what it will run very soon.

Doug

Doug,,As I have said the boost was not the problem that caused it,,With the small bottle warmer you run and the cool temps that night it was flowing much slower UNTIL you and Dave heated the bottle externally,,With the truck jetted for the lower bottle pressures it would have been ok unless it warmed up substanially in MD,,Without a pressure guage on the nitrous bottle its hard to say what it was before you warmed it more to see how much more flow you got afterwards,,The increase in flow caused a much higher cylinder pressure that caused the big bang(luckily for you most of it was out the tailpipe and not blowinf off the intake manifold like something like that would have done on a gasser),,With it still idling ok you may not have hurt and rods or bearing but have them check them when its worked on,,One last thing, buy the better bottle blanket warmer and a good nitrous presure guage it will help prevent this from happening again,,Meanwhile I'll look in my storage area to see if I have my NOS bottle blanket(I had two and only let one go with the car)to give you,,Any help you need just give me a ring... Andy

P. S. -That is a great number, lets get it tuned there is more in it,,Also,I Found my weather station stuff for the next tuning night for air quality.....

Hammer,

You are 100% correct on the bottle pressure... . We need to be sure and use the same bottle pressure all the time. The blanket is the best one made right now, it has the pressure sensor to turn it on and off. But when one adds his own heat source (read heat gun) then all bets are off.

I am in hopes of working out an O-ringed head to use for the install. I need to get in touch with you to get the name of a good machine shop in our area. I also have a few ideas to get some more HP outta it the only holdback is $$.

I went to MIR today and had a great time. They were racing a lot of diesels! Several of the TDR guys showed the crowd what the old Cummins can do. It was nice to put faces with names for the guys in attendance.

Doug

Jetpilot..... Looks like you are on your way to break the sound berrier!!!! Good job.

what size nos jets were you running???

I just toasted my HX40 with nos and may need a B-1 or something bigger in the turbo dept... I temp. solved my head gasket problem, buy installing a 12v marine gasket and torqued the S--t out of it. I think O-ringing would be the next step if I have more problems... If its not the Head its the turbo... i:D
