Doug,

Nice seeing you today.

I am convinced that you will no longer have any problems with your truck. After I talked to you in the staging lanes, my DTT transmission broke. I think I took all your bad luck away from you. :{

Doug,,Rampant rumors afloat about pictures of your truck being towed from the Kauffman's to the shop by Ernie's brothers Phord Powerpuke,,Now I'm not one to start anything being I'm such a nice guy and you've had a hard week, but,I've heard they are going to surface for all to see,,Ernie,Dave,Chris and the whole group at Kauffman's are a fine bunch and we'll find none better ,but, we Dodge boys are not going to live this down... ... 758 hp and towed to the garage by a Phord are we in trouble.....

Andy,

Actually it was Ernies Phord that did the towing..... There is even more to the story, I will give you a call and fill ya in. I did take great care to ensure that no pictures were allowed. I even considered putting the stuff that car manufacturers use to hide upcoming cars from the public when road testing. But I decided that the dark of the night would be enough!:D

another perspective

Hammer,

If Jetpilot Made 758 HP, or 3 times the factory rating, with the stock rods, crank, Head, pistons ect. and comes out of it ONLY with a blown headgasket and on the back of a F**D Hooker, then so be it.

Try to get close to those #'s with a Gm or F**D Diesel product or any other Factory engine w/ just bolt-ons. The engine would have suffered more than a head gasket failure.

Doug,

Are you still going to make it to May 11th Dyno Day in Rhode Island?

Bill,

I won't be able to attend the 11th dyno day:(. Actually I have to work plus I am trying to get an o-ringed head... . The head, if it works out probably won't be in my neck of the woods till the 13th at best.

I need to work out a few details for the N02 setup to help ensure this doesn't happen again! I think the o-ringed head is the only way to keep increasing the power reliably from this point!

Doug

Guys,,, What's an 'O'-Ring head job cost?

I'm liking this High HP stuff, but I like to fix stuff before it breaks. That way I'm not stranded somewhere.

1 week fixing the truck at my leisure is much shorter than 1 week when I need the truck RIGHT NOW.

Doug,, Are the Boost clamps also OEM ?

Thanks for putting up with me,, I'm just full of questions. . But definatly learning. Maybe one day you'll see my 100,000 mile Cummins at 750+RWHP

O-ringing

Merrick,

I just talked to Piers last week about this subject. He told me that if I brought just the head in it would be 300. If you brought the whole truck in and he took it apart, o-ringed it, and put it back together it would be 300 plus shop time and gaskets. He said about 600 plus gaskets. Hope this answers your ?.

Nathan

Thats cheaper than I thought!!!

300 for the head work, or 600 +parts for him is not really that bad.

As far as the hp #'s , you are my hero. ;)

Lock-up?

Amazing #'s, for a diesel. . :D

It's my understanding that unless you have some kind of system to lock up your T/C, that it won't, on a dyno run... . Is that true??

Colin

Colin,

That is not entirely true... . A lot of guys who dyno have lockup switches installed but depending on how your transmission is setup it may or may not stay locked. If your transmission doesn't stay in lockup the HP #'s will be less. Personally I have a lockup switch but I do NOT use it on the road. I installed it only for use while dynoing. I installed my lockup switch prior to upgrading to DTT's race converter, this converter allows lockup under full throttle. So now I really don't have to utilize the lockup switch.

Defiantly answers my question.

That ain't too bad man. I figured something much higher.

Thanks,

The engine got torn down today. Good news is appears only damage was to the head gasket! It let loose behind #6 and also between #3 & #4. The head is being shipped the Piers for him to work his O-ring magic on, this should stop blown head gaskets from happening again..... The only down side to all this is it will probably be 2-3 weeks before I get it back on the road:(. Oh well at least it should not blow again, so now I can work on turning up the power some more!

Just goes to show you how tough the engines are.

Hey Doug, Are you going to have some porting done on your head while its off? Hope you get it back together in time for Muncie. Good luck!! Jeff

Jeff,

I would love to have some porting done while it is at Piers but the $$ and time constraints prohibit that right now..... I think I will look around and see if I can find a good affordable head and send it out for some porting. As it is I won't have this one back for a couple weeks:(.

As for Muncie I should be up and running:D. Hopefully with a little more tweeking I can get a few more ponies out of the truck by then.
