It took about three of them before I perfected one. I took a mild steel dowel pin. I cut it to about 3/4 inch long. Then deburred the edges. I asked one of the tool makers I work with for his smallest drill bits. Wow they were small. Slightly bigger than a human hair. I broke the first bit. But the secound one I was more cautious. I cleaned and blew out the tiny hole in the pin. Then Installed it in the rubber hose near the afc. I put a small radiator clamp outside the rubber hose and then squeezed it to ensure the pin will stay put and seal it up good. How does it perform. Well boost really jumps up fast but will fall back some. but by that time you should be in the next county. #ad

What size dowel pin did you use? Or what size hose/tubbing is the afc/wastegate use? I think I will try it.

Good job

Jeff, What is the hole size in the pin? I am guessing your co-worker loaned you his #61-#80 drill set... . but thas a few choices before I'll get it.
Thanx,
Mike

The size of the hole I really don't know. But you probably would only fit 2 human hairs through it. I think a smaller sized hole would work a little better. As far as a dowel pin. Just use something that will fit snuggly into the hose. Also made out of something soft. Other wise you may have trouble with breaking the bits.
I was pondering of coiling up about 2 to 3 feet of hose. so that it would take more time to compress the line. Thus delaying the time to open the wastegate.

I made a similar restrictor while playing around with the cruise control vacuum line that would work much the same. I just used a 1/4" barbed plastic coupling, the type used for irrigation, 49¢ for ten. Filled the coupling with glue then pushed needle through it after the glue was dry, worked great. It would also be easy to drill if you want to go that route.

Jeff, I don't think coiling up extra hose will work for you.

You got a restrictor in the line, now all you need is a small "controlled" leak between your restrictor and the wastegate. That will let you dial-in the boost you want, the maximum being limited by the total amount of fuel added. A tee in the line with a tiny needle valve works great.
