Mag Hytec front cover

Just got my new Mag Hytec front diff cover onto my 2004. Looks great, holds 4 quarts, fits perfectly. Installation does not require taking off the tie rod like the Dana 60 does. Therefore, it is relatively quick and easy.

The PML's we sell have been out for a long time now? They are built differently to clear the rod ends etc since they reworked the covers last year.

Mag-hytec prices

i just received both the front and rear diff covers for my 05 last week from www.xtremediesel.com they had a good internet price, but i decided to give them a call and see if they would make a deal and they did... i got both with free shipping and no tax for $ 500. 00 out the door !! Oo. everyone else was charging between $250-275 each. so i think i made a great deal. i will be installing today. i hope the front goes on as easy as i've read. i really dont want to take of the tie rod. :{

yep only $500 for the security of knowing i have more oil capacity,cooling affect, along with easier changes in the future.



i just finished installing both on my 05 and it could'nt have been easier. there was no need to remove the tie rod,but i did raise the drivers side at the frame so that the suspension was out of the way. the whole job took about an hour. i know that sound like a long time, but i did it all in my yard and on my back. oh, i am also disabled. so i would assume just about anyone could do it themselves.

Easier changes??? Aren't they hex bolts? A conventional socket is so much easier! You do pull the covers off, right? Because if you're not pulling the covers, you're not properly servicing your diffs IMHO. Not pulling the covers defeats the real mission of having $500 covers (ultimate reliability with the job done right, right?).



I also understand the benefits, especially after reading about all the front and rear diff failures here on TDR and other places that were a result of excess heat that Dodge didn't consider.

yep, if i do pull the covers off. i dont mind the allen bolts at all... I know we have alot of members using aftermarket diff covers so i cant be alone in this thread.

I see most of you have aftermarket items on your rigs. you've also spent alot of money where others wont. I dont care about the money. I want to feel confident going down the road that i wont set any codes or have to update the transmission or other drivetrain items because of the upgrades. I can still drive into a dealer and get warranty service. So $500 is a drop in the bucket compared to some, but to each his own.

Pulling off aftermarket covers is not really nessisary as they all have magnetic drain plugs. The factory covers have the magnets attached to the inside so you have to take them off to clean the magnet off.

Do you take off your engine pan when you change your engine oil?

I just installed the aa14-9. 25 on my 2003 Dodge 2500 4x4 yesterday and there is not enough clearance between the suspension bar and the front cover to use the supplied allen key let alone a torque wrench. My 6MM allen key socket is too long also. My understanding was the bar would not have to be dropped to complete the install, but this looks to be the only way to get a good grip on the top 4 bolts. Is there some trick or a tool available that I am missing? In the mean time, I'm off to the auto parts store to look for a solution. Thanks.

You forgot to add the "BLING" factor to the truck now to enhance the feeling of additional oil and cooling.

My truck has huge amounts of discreet "BLING", 2 sets of PIAA 510's, 240mm Lightforce lights and a Cummins engine to add a few.
