Brian,
I far as I can understand the DMV Rules on this, The Quad Falls in the grey area between Auto and Motorcycle.
Tow Different DMV Offices up here have told me two different things. One Office says I have to follow CHP Form 888 for Motorcycle rules, And the Other says I have to Follow CHP Form 882 (I think).
Both DMV Offices and the CHP Say NO Motorcycle Edorsement or Helmet is required,Because the Quad has 4 wheels I guess.
Where those two CHP Forms Differ is in the area of getting the Quad smogged and Having a Official light and brake certificate.
ToddG,
Your right, On Asphalt or Concrete, The Mini Spooled rear axle is hard to steer,And Really wears tires out Fast!.
The Quad I have is a Polaris SportsmanHO,It has IFS and IRS, And the Rear is still locked with no Differential in wheel speed between inner and outter wheels, So yeah its Still going be a Handfull!, LOL!
RBrooks, Thanks for the Insite, I will stop by a Auto Tireshop and check out some DOT El-cheapo rims and tires. The Polaris Shop here in town say they can get DOT tires and rims for my Quad, But the cost is around $600!
Doug.
