Question for the turbo guys.

Got a good deal on an industrial injection phatshaft turbo, wondering if it is worth the effort to make it fit the truck.
Tag says
Phatshaft 64/76
6.0L

It looks like it was a 64/80 and somebody scratched the 76 over the 80.
Guessing industrial did it, wish they would scratch clearer. It was used on a 6.0L for about 2000 miles and pulled to trade in for a new truck.

I called industrial and they said they can sell me the parts to convert it for the cummins, he said I need to change the housing to get the elbow, exhaust flange, and oil lines. It also seems to be missing the wastegate actuator, it's nutted back to a bracket.

Is it worth the cost and hassle?
Trying to lower my EGT's , the stock HE341 is still on the truck, only have the smarty jr

Truck should be in sig but basically a stock 03 HO auto.

Thanks

The "Art" of matching a turbocharger to your engine specs and needs means that you configure the turbo to the engine and not just bolting on any turbo. Do as you wish as others will hopefully chime in.

What did industrial say about this setup for your truck? You gotta drink someone's kool aid and believe what they say since the majority of us no nothing about turbos.

The typical enthusiastic response "oh it will work great! Lower EGT's and better fuel mileage! I recommend you have us rebuild it though just to make sure it's still in balance."
"How much is that?"
"Oh, only about 900 bucks, but then you know it's good to go..."
"Holy crap, between that and the price I paid for it I could throw a few hundred more at it and get a new one!"

Soo, I'm skeptical.
Anyone know a good turbo place that isn't biased?
I contacted smeding diesel, haven't gotten a reply yet, but then again when I asked them about rebuilding an HX-35 they said they don't mess with them.
Thought that was odd from a company that says they specialize in rebuilding turbos.

Prob gonna have to drink the coolaid.....

I would suggest you contact AH64ID He has a fair amount of knowledge on turbos and can tell you what flavor to drink. PM him. I understand where you are at I was looking at an overdrive unit to buy and by the time I bought all the adapters it wasn't worth it.
