Anyone make their own? I am slowly putting together my 4-link air ride, doing the rear first. I am lifting it in the process. Lifting the rear without the front will look funny, as the front sits lower to begin with. So, I plan to cheaply lift the front enough so that when the rear is lifted, it won't look to nose-low.

What I want is my truck slightly nose low. Right now it is stock height with 285 tires. So, adding 3" to the rear (with bags), and 3" to the front (with home made spacers) should put it in the same stance it is now, only higher, the front to back upslope should stay the same.

ANYWAY, back to the topic, anyone made their own? Are the springs held on by gravity? I mean, the springs are not attached to the truck besides being pushed on by the truck weight, right?

I know, I could buy them, but I would just get rid of them in the next year (yes, I could resell them), but am able to make them to a custom height.

Thanks guys, Nick

yes, springs are just pressed in. Doesn't look too hard to make a set. If you buy a set, they don't look like they are worth $120. But, I would rather buy something that I have seen work than build it myself and be the guinnea pig (at least as far as steering/suspension/safety is concerned). But if you can find a set and just copy them, then yes, it should be easy.

If I remember, they look like two pieces of pipe, different diameters, one inside the other. The larger outside pipe is shorter than the smaller inside pipe. It has a ring welded to it that the coil sits on. The inside pipe "positions" the coil. Making the pipe longer would give you a bigger spacer.

I machined 1" spacers that sit under my springs just to level the front, I know

what you mean about sitting lower in the front, drives my nuts. I have done

this mod to a 1500 and now my 2500 and works great. I used aluminium

so for 3" I would fab something out of steel?????
