I bought my 97 from a TDR ad, nicest person you would ever want to meet, he had to wait until I flew up to get it, truck was better than described.

I deal with it everyday.
From the guy who swears he'll be back with the money, to the guy that tells me there is absolutely nothing wrong with his trade-in.
Then upon inspection find out it's junk and he knew it.
There are good and bad in all walks, the problem is, it's not always the honest guy that wins.
Typically it's the most dishonest, rudest person that wins.
I bought a truck from some people 70 miles from me they even had to drive the truck to the bank.
They held the truck thru people calling and offering more money etc.
The lady said that one guy had even called at 11pm to try again to get the truck.
That's pretty rude... .
I think we've all been in your shoes Daniel, and it sucks.

Better luck next time... .
I better get busy I got a 92 D250 to pick up :-laf

KO

Thats rough man, but dont be discouraged, not everyone out there or even on this site is a scum bag. I bought my Cummins off of a member on here and it was a pleasurable experience. Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you. You are probably better off w/out the truck.

He needs to go on the "Bad Sellers List" when we create one. Lets create a "Bad Buyers List" as well. It works quite well on other boards that I frequent. SteveinAZ

To bad about what happened DP.

Some people worship the all mighty dollar. Integrity means very little.

Its to bad some people think the TDR classifieds are to be used like ebay.

I noticed he hasn't stepped in here to defend his actions eather.

Hot button topic! 26 post's in one day. I have been the vic in some E-commerce ventures, But not on here. I've had two deals through here and all came out well. I actually had an opp to talk shop for a while with them both. Good stuff. Bummer for you though. Karma will get even.

Daniel, I can feel your pain, because I've been there. I've been on both sides of that issue. I have had people tell me that they would be there within two hours with the money and to hold it for them and they never slow up. In the mean time I lost a sale.

Anymore I tell people that whoever puts X number of dollars in my hand first, buys it. If they are from out of town, I tell them to wire me the money and I'll hold it till the cows come home.

So... ... do ya have two girl friends and each owns a house or do ya have one girl friend with two houses? I can't tell by the post:-laf

"NICK"

One GF with 2 houses, I think she's going to invite him to move to the other one! :-laf

At least until he gets it fixed! :D

PToombs got it right- one GF; two fixer-upper houses. We are supposed to be sanding and refinishing hardwood floors this weekend. Gotta get a move on. We want it ready to rent this next weekend.

If your using a drum sander be very careful with that thing. It'll end up in the basement or thru a wall in the hands of the wrong operator! Same with the edging unit, they'll both tear up a floor in the wrong hands. I would try to strip alot of the old finish if I did it again, then sand, keep from clogging the sand paper so much.

She used the drum sander, and it moves QIUCK. Only had a few area where she started a pass that had a slight dimple in the floor. I got it smoothed out the best I could with a belt sander. Not sure if that is what I was supposed to use, but it's what we had, so I used it. I think we should have gone with a slightly lighter color, but for a rental, it may not be a bad choice.

Good to hear you got it under control, the color is sort of insignificant, I think you'll be better off in the long run with the hardwoods in a rental. I know people with rentals and carpets get trashed.

First, it was a post in the "wrong" topic area; now you guys hijack the thread to a completely different angle. LOL.

People like this can sleep at night because they weren't taught right from wrong as a kid. That's the biggest part of the problem in our society. I noticed it when I was in High School. Kids my age back then (late 80s) thought it was ok to cheat as long as they got caught. I wonder where they got THAT idea? HMMMM... parents maybe? And we wonder why we have Enron and WorldComm. Guess what? I don't see it getting better any time soon.

Well this post was about someone that done someone wrong, and ended up as some girls house and sanding or something.

But back to the original post,... I believe that TDR is about a brotherhood of people that are hear to learn and to help others. I for one would go way out of my way to help someone as would many others. Thats why I have extra items around just incase someone is in need. But TDR has no way of screening members so your going to get some bad apples in the batch.

Even with the bad apples I will still trust and take a chance and help someone. It seems like $$$ is the name of the game along with some greed. Still I will put my trust in other members if I should need help.

No, I would never do what has been done to you, as there are still some honest people around. Alot of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still wondering how a sander, house and girls got on this post?????

I had this happen to me. I even had the truck, took it to a mechanic for a test, and we had an agreement so I got a cashiers check and went back to finish the purchase. In the meantime another purchaser who said he had a prior agreement showed. Seller hemmed and hawed and said he couldn't figure out what to do. The ethics were clear to me. He messed things up greatly. It was a dually 4wd with only 100k on motor and supposedly rebuilt getrag.

Long story short, I didn't get the truck. My respect for seller is at zero. I actually believe what happened is I drove it and said it lacks power compared to mine. I then told the guy about a few things that I would do after purchase. He seemed very interested, and I think passed it along to the earlier guy, while I was bringing back my cashier's check. That guy planned to take it to Mexico for a work truck. He then upped his offer realizing how simply these first gens can be tweaked. I was out a lot of time and trouble.

Like I tell my kids though, which one would you rather be: the person that had this done to them, or the type of person that does this? I left and just decided that there would probably be other flaky things on the truck that would cause bad pickup karma down the road. I kept my 1st genner (no problems whatever) and used the money to completely rebuild my wife's jeep cj5 with paint, body work, new parts, and its third replacement motor--one owner jeep. She's much happier. I sure would have liked that dualie with relatively low miles to pull the horse trailer though.
