Hi Gang,
Simple Minds sez " Alive and Kicking", same here...

Main question is , why does it take so long?
You're absolutly right! Point is, I'm in Italy, the test crew is in the States.
This slows us down... much.
As Doug said, after a long time that my friends had a problem when starting their trucks cold, I've found that I had a bad Intake Air Temperature Sensor. That made me calibrate the ECM's in a wrong way.
ADT will have soon a Tech Page where you'll find more information about that sensor thing. I'm lead to believe that several people with low mileage problems have a bad IAT sensor! More soon to come about it.
Back to the ECM's!
At this point, I think I'm done with the ETC ECM's. The ECM's will have four different files in them.
File one, the original file, only the boost limiter is removed for the folks with bigger injectors. No more need for a boost module.
File two, is a fuel saver file. For all the times one want's simply to cruise arround.
(And why not, save fuel)
File three, is a " moderate" performance file that works decently with the CC.
File four, is full power... .
Obviously, files 2-3 and 4 have better timing, several changes made in order to build up boost faster, speed limiter removed, boost limiter removed, better throttle response and and and...
One idea is burned into my mind, power isn't the main concern, DRIVEABILTY IS! Power is useless if you can't use it! With mine ECM's the truck becomes " A dream to drive" (Words of an test dummie)

The 2001. 5 ECM's are very different from the 2001's. First off, from a certain point on Cummins does no longer use the Crankshaft Position Sensor but only the Camshaft sensor.
Then, the VP is a larger displacement unit in the newer trucks. That means that it's fuel curves in the ECM are completly different, along with several other changes in the ECM's file.
B. T. W. The 2001. 5 ETC ECM's, are much more similar to the ETH ECM's, than to the 2001 ETC's.
I strongly believe that I'm also done( or at least nearly) with those ECM's. Doug will get the first Beta unit soon, then we'll know!
Stay tuned, you'll hear more news soon.
